Qld still recall how NSW belted them up in the 70's with queenslanders playing for NSW. Ron Mccauliffe takes great credit for introducing the origin concept but the plan was hatched many years earlier

Joh Bjelke premier of Qld and a kiwi worked tirelessly to one day see Qld or NZ hold a trophy. Realising this idea was far fetched, a plan to merge both was formed. Qld were piss poor at footy, cricket and anything that didn't involve XXXX . In fact the only ball sport they did excel in was outlawed under the regime of Joh who detested nudity of any kind. Seeing the man i can understand why but that is a different story .  A committee was formed to rewrite the Atlas. Suddenly a qld only version, pre continental drift was produced. In this version, NZ, Samoa, PNG, parts of NSW and yet to be determined territories were joined to Qld. Scientific specialists including Tosser Turner and Ronald McDonald confirmed this and were prepared to put the credability on the line

So 30 years on State of origin now means state of birth/ where you played a game over 16/grannygate/where you park your caravan/houseboat of origin. The qld passion and queenslander chant is now non existent as many don't even know what it means

It is also recorded that Tonie Carrol, Brad Thorn and Harmichael approached management to do the Hakka pre game. Channel 9 did not support the idea so it was scrapped

In 2011 a secret NSW dossier has been prepared to revive the concept of interstate football. Its called State of Origin where qld players play for qld and NSW players play for NSW. Its novel but it worked once

Congrats to the Queenslanders. I despise them but NSW were absolutely dreadful & were rightly hammered for 5 straight series. To try & give NSW crap about saying 'origin is dead' is right off though. Just because some nuffie (Though still better than the editor at the Courier Mail) at the Telegraph spruiks something for a story to try & get people to buy the paper doesn't mean it's true.

Oh only to relieve the reaction after the 56-16 game again...good times.

I think that the whole 'weather' thing is a bit of a myth that has the rest of Australia conned a little. I think that WA should proabaly be considered the sunshine state somehow, with Perth the best standard of living.

I have spoken to a few friends of mine and they all say that it does seem to rain quite a bit whenever they visit the 'sunshine' state. The last three times I have been up there it has rained virtually the whole time.

Qld weather? MASSIVE MYTH!!!!
