Love my footy....but IF this was to happen.....would be beyond ridiculous....have heard a few other players this side is chasing also.....read it and try not to laugh !!

The Roosters are set to target boom Broncos forward David Fifita for next season.

One of the best young forwards in the game, Fifita is still only 20 and has the potential to be a genuine game-breaker.

Currently sidelined with a knee injury, Fifita has yet to sign with a club for next season and has several franchises on his tail.

The young powerhouse is in no hurry to sign with anyone due to a dispute with his manager, but the Roosters have a habit of getting their man.

The under-performing Broncos - recently beaten 59-0 by the Roosters - have a host of players off-contract next season and are a club in need of a cleanout.

First graders off contract include Jack Bird, Herbie Farnworth, Fifita, Jamil Hopoate, Issac Luke, Corey Oates, Ben Te'o and Jake Turpin.

While the club will be happy to see some of these players go, re-signing Fifita is a priority but the Roosters are certain to make the back-rower a tempting offer.

I'd love a rookie draft........But then the NRL would have to take over funding of all junior programs

I think there needs to be a draft of some sort as the salary cap just isn’t working these to spread the talent

Agree.

Either that or much harsher punishments for clubs, players & agents caught circumventing 3rd party agreements etc.

Maybe the NRL taking action against Isaac Moses is the start of stricter controls in these areas?

In my opinion if a player is resigned by the club in which they are presently playing for and in which they made they first grade debut then they do not need to be subject of a player draft. We need a draft as the current system simply favors the rich like the Roosters.

I guess if Mitch Aubusson retires, they will be loaded!

Sarcasm aside, strikes me simply as lazy journalism at this point in time. I mean "are set to target" means nothing.

I have read that he is very close to his family and doesn’t want to come to Sydney. So it’s either Titans or stay where he is.

Last night I heard PV say that it was important all clubs developed their own talent. It was a statement that met with wide acclaim by the panel on Channel Nein.
I was shouting at the TV: "If that is so, why have the two best performing clubs over the past decade been Easts and Melbourne? Neither of these clubs develop their own juniors (well, very few)."
Sadly, success is not about junior development; it is about how clever you are at rorting the salary cap. Until there is salary cap dispensation for local juniors Easts and Melbourne will continue to prosper because money buys success.

I hope he takes it.
I'd like to see the Gold Coast strong and not continually losing their best juniors to the Donkeys.
It's no good for the NRL to have an 'easy beat' club like the Titans have become.
If the titans had a couple of good years, and got some juniors playing for them they would be away.
