SN just released the NRL Spine Rankings & I nearly choked......obviously Tom T, DCE, Croker & Api aren't worth a pinch of s$%t lolol. 1 to 3 OK but 4 to 10 are bulls$%t!!!! Can't wait for our spine to show how good they really can be & are!!!!

Had a good laugh. No Green so we're 11th but Parra were 5 with no hooker? That Dragon's spine is 4 spots better than ours..? We have an untried 5/8 but Newcastle have an untried fullback and 5/8 and theirs is better.....?

Yes and I’m still embarrassed about it!!

I think we will be top 8 again, but potentially a little lower down as some teams have had ( on paper ) a big improvement!

At times last season the side was easily top four standard , other times ranging between fair to average to well of the pace . With the addition of Thompson , some general improvement in the younger brigade and vitally a functioning 5 / 8 together with a decent run on the injury front , must be reasonable contenders surely . Maybe part wishful thinking but on a positive note and with some better consistency also very manageable and attainable also.

Predicted 12th. Finished 6th. 2017 .
Predicted 7th/8th.... Maybe 1st/2nd...? 2018?

I’d be very happy with that.

If we were to sign a recognised 5/8 I’d do a revision, but running with some Rookies ( who may end up being a great success or a great failure) I think I’m erring on the side of caution at this stage.

I do like your thinking, but I’m being cautiously optimistic instead!

Api is up with the best 9's and still improving.
DCE also is amongst the elite and would not trade him.
Tom T is only a few mistakes away from Superstar status and as a kid - still improving.
The 5/8....well that's to be seen, but even if close to a pass mark, this spine is up with the best.

We aren't 100% sure who will be 5/8 looks like a rookie. Api was NSW best hooker last year but was also his first consistently good year. DCE and TT are superstars. TT also has alot of improvement to go. I believe he had more errors than any other FB last year.

The list seems pretty spot on statistically on paper. But these things don't mean anything. Not even sook worthy imo.

These type of ratings are really just subjective at the best of times but i would more subscribe to Maxta 's line of thinking in regard to D C E , TOM and API 's excellent current rating and for any prospective 5 / 8 to provide at least some decent input . This would surely have to place the Manly spine higher up the order . Just think that in the present circumstances also , it would be a distinct advantage to have someone like Carney in the Manly ranks also soon .
