Scott Penn doesn't want to put undue pressure on Manly's players and coaching staff, but just in case Trent Barrett was wondering, the Sea Eagles board won't take kindly to another year in the finals wilderness.
Not when they want to be the top-four side you could set your September clock by for most of the last decade.
So after a year of knowing he was forced to watch a team of "dead ducks" wear the famous maroon and white – a battle-weary Manly had used 29 players by round nine – chairman Penn wants a finals fling.
"We always have expectations of playing finals footy," Penn said. "The top four ... we'd love to be there. As owners and as a board we have expectations of top four and that's what we aspire to. But I think we're still building.
