I love my rugby league, like all of you, but I'm opposed to the NSW Government knocking down a perfectly good SFS and spending $700-Million on a similar stadium. This is a waste of money when funds should be diverted to much more pressing matters, such as education and health.
Greenturd, however, thinks that NRL fans will be appalled at the suggestion by the NSW Opposition to scrap the new stadium plan. I'm not a Labor supporter but I do believe the party is correct on this.
Am I in the minority here? Will you other NRL fans back Greenturd's call to "vote against Labor just because of this"?

No way I would take any heed of anything Shoddy says.

I agree the stadia strategy is a joke, anyone thinks that by having a few big stadiums the fans will flock back is an complete and utter fool - Turd is a fool.

Money much better spent up upgrading schools, hospitals and Brookvale Oval.

You should vote against Labor at the state election anyway.

The current government under Gladys has had a few missteps, but who in their right mind would want a return to the lotus-eating years of 2003-11, under Trades (Obeid) Hall in Sussex Street?

Arfur Daley is arguably even less appealing than Luke Aquinas ‘The Pincher’ Foley. Just another irritating smirker with no policy substance behind him. Daley’s big ideas include more commuter parking at Campbelltown Station (wow) and cruelling the metro by not continuing it through to Bankstown - a plan designed to take an entire suburban line out of the Central Station maelstrom and thus free up capacity on the existing heavy rail network. Which is now at saturation point.

In short, think before casting a vote based on a one note issue.

I think you might be mis-reading Greenberg and the NRL if you think their policies have anything to do with what fans want. They base their policies on self-aggrandisement and self-interest in general. Probably have some mates in the stadium construction industry, for all we know?

I am Northern beaches born and bred and live in liberal heartland. I’m with you @The Who

We dont need a lot of what is being done at the moment, and the Stadia policy is a perfect example.

If we honestly believe that any of this is for the fans then we are very mistaken. This is all about creating infastruucture and boosting the state economy to the highest bidder.

Todds threat of talking the GF and future origins away from the biggest market for league would have to be one of the stupidest comments I have ever heard. It would be suicide for the NRL to deny its biggest fan base live games. It would effectively kill of league in NSW and open up the flood gates for AFL and soccer.

If the SFS is as they say unsafe by todays standards and an accident waiting to happen, how did they let 1000’s of people through there this year.

Peter Fitzsimmons has written some very good pieces on this over right last few years. If anyone would like more info have a look at some of the articles he has written.

On more liberal notes, the light rail for one is a terrible blight on Sydney’s CBD. It has destroyed many local business in the city and cut the city in two. It will be ill used by many in sydney and I can see it blowing out even more I’ve he next two years.

I’m sitting on the B1 at the moment and it was hailed as the best thing on the beaches since sliced bread, but it saves no time on my daily commute from MonaVale. The old L90’s where bad but they took the same time and they also ran later at night.

Don’t even get me started on the lock out laws which have effectively pushed real estate prices up in Darlinghurst and Potts Point up and destroyed the night and live music scene in Sydney. Newtown now has just replaced the cross but it is further away from the beaches which makes it harder for people from the beaches to go out later in the city without travelling to Newtown. But the lock out laws dont apply to tight casino????WTF

I’m having dinner on Friday night with a former political advisor to the state liberal party and he’s a great bloke (drinks way too much) but he is fun to have a night out with. He has some very good stories about the state of the Libs at the moment.

I’ll await the usual “lefty” comments to come rolling in from the usual posters.

Politics .... no way can I get in a blue over politics is there ?

PSS ... forget GreenTurd's BS on Stadia policy ..... he couldn't give a **** about stadia ...... his comments are simply the first step in positioning himself for political pre-selection post his hastening of the NRL armamgedon .....

100% agree @The Who

I love the SFS (I went to every grand final there) and maybe it needs some upgrade, but it seems just fine to me.

Total waste of money. Come to the country when 40+ degrees and see the kids sweltering in their un-air-conditioned classrooms.

NSW is much greater than Sydney-Newcastle- Wollongong.

Beatnik was on the radio this morning rambling on about Allianz and calling it a dog of a stadium.

The host asked him if it was the NRL's job to hold the NSW Government to ransom by threatening to move the Grand Final.

He was stumped and just gibbered on about the MOU they signed with the NSW Government to hold the Grand Final in Sydney for 25 years based on the three stadiums being re-built or upgraded.

How he ever got the NRL job defies any logic.

Are any of the infrastructure works not about a year or two behind and hundreds of millions over budget..?

When I first heard it announced I thought to myself that it's alot of money for something people aren't really asking for.

Especially the complaints you hear about infrastructure an health. Also with a worsening drought NSW will take a hit.

Of course the Turd has his 2 cents worth because of NRLs stadium plan. (Again something no one wants).

I don't live in NSW so not fully up to date on current issues, but my parents do and they aren't pleased with the stadium plan either (and they live rural so you can guess which way they vote )

I and 90% of fans couldn’t give a crap if the Roosters don’t get a new home ground built.
Empty threat saying the grand final will be moved if a new stadium isn’t built at a ground we will never use for grand finals or orgin.

Upgrades to existing, traditional suburban grounds e.g. Brookie, Leichardt, etc. would be a better idea IMO.

What Greenburg fails to understand (or simply refuses to acknowledge in his determination to climb the political ladder) is that rugby league is a working class sport & its fans are (for want of a better word) "tribal", & they are happier with a local home ground they can consider their & their team's turf.

There was nothing wrong with the suburban grounds back when superleague came along & threatened to destroy our game by forcing unwanted mergers & declaring perfectly suitable grounds as not meeting certain criteria, creating panic amongst teams who have been around since rugby league started.
