I am well into my 40s now, and think almost everyone’s a pretender. But if I ever had the chance to meet Beaver, I’d seriously freeze and wouldn’t be able to get a word out.

Sadly, Ranga, the older you get, the less chances you get to meet Beaver. Trust me on this…

We all have our own opinions and the split comp observation is a prudent one I had overlooked. I was more of a Craig Hancock fan. Hoppa was Hoppa which no one would disagree with.

I would put Danny Moore and Craig Hancock in the same bucket - good solid players who you need to have in a premiership winning team....like Robbo after him or even Stu Davis before them

Choc Watmough had better hands than Danny Moore. Not sure why Danny got so many rep honours.

Solid club player at best.

Not saying Moore didn't deserve Origin and Kangaroos selections he got in 1995, but it was when the Super Leaguers weren't being selected.

Add Scott Donald and probably Wolfman on that list as well.

On a slight tangent but still Manly wingers I only just realised that Kerry Boustead played Origin for BOTH NSW and QLD. Saw a photo and got blown away, and thought his birth in Innisfail made him a toad.

Kerry never played Origin for NSW. That will be a photo from the old inter-state series. Rugby League Project stats have him playing 3 games for QLD in the 1978 series and then 6 games for NSW across the 1979-1981 series.

The inter-state series kept going during the first 2 years of single game Origin (1980 and 1981) before the juggernaut took over.

My son and I met the great Beaver after the souths game at the leagues club. Only to happy to take photos and chat. Met Danny Moore as well, also happy to take a few pics and chat.
