<p class="first">National Rugby League (NRL) club Manly is considering imposing a ban on alcohol at future functions, as police continue to investigate star full-back Brett Stewart over an alleged sexual assault.</p><p>Stewart, 24, is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on his way home after a night of drinking at the club's season launch party on Friday.</p><p>He denies the allegation but has so far declined to be interviewed by police.</p><p>The Sea Eagles' chief executive, Grant Mayer, says a recommendation about a new alcohol policy will be put to the board.</p><p>"Well obviously there's been a lot of talk about alcohol, and players consuming alcohol at club functions," he said.</p><p>"We've been quite clear in our stance that we think it's almost impossible to enforce a total alcohol ban across the players 24/7.</p><p>"But we believe that the proposal we're putting forward to the board is a halfway house that says to the players you cannot drink at official club functions."</p>

No matter the other conjecture, several Manly players had way too much to drink at a public function. Mayer has emphasised that many Manly players do not drink at all. However, this morning on the radio he said the same thing -  that a ban was very hard to enforce. he also emphasised that there have been few problems with Manly plaeyrs and this sort of thing in the past.

Mayer is quoted as saying they should have bused them in and out of the function. That makes sense and is what they would have done on almost every occasion for the last 3 years.
