I am wondering if I am the bunny for going to this event. Morewood is the most senior player showing up! I'll be happy to see some Sea Eagle jerseys out there but I hope the scoreboard stops when they declare.

Will be a good day out and a chance to catch up with a few people to make plans for the 2010 season plus give the youngsters a bit of encouragement.

Morewood will feel like a  father to the rest of the players.

It wil be interesting to see how Junior Palau goes and whether he can press for an NRL spot this year.

It would be funny is Burgess and Taylor suffered season ending injuries in the game.  Typical souths who always trying to win at the wrong end of the season.

Tooks you're so right.  Souths win the Challenge cup, and they're always finals bound......to crash and burn...so predictable...so hilarious.  It'll be interesting to watch it from outside the wire with most of the locals.  Better wear my armor.

For many years now the Bunnies have used their trials as season - then its all down hill from there.
It's so sad to watch them take the trials so seriously against the Dragon and then lose. Ha

South Sydmey coach John Lang says he is excited at the prospect of unleashing David Taylor and Sam Burgess in the Rabbitohs' "Return to Redfern" match against the Manly Sea Eagles.

Since arriving at South Sydney from English Super League giants Bradford, Burgess has been impressive, with Lang hailing the youngster's versatility as a key element in what is shaping as a most imposing forward pack.

Lang said he would be comfortable asking Burgess to play anywhere in the pack, but had earmarked Taylor to fill a place in the second row.

First, however, Taylor will need to prove to his coach he is capable of churning out the minutes required of a backrower in the NRL, with the Queensland State of Origin hopeful reportedly weighing in at in excess of 121kg.

"Both Sam and Dave have been great since they arrived. They have fitted in well and obviously we are hoping they can be a big part of our club this year," Lang said.

"They are two of the best forward prospects in the game. They are big, powerful guys who have plenty of skill as well, so it is exciting to have them in the team together.

"(Taylor) is probably a little over (his ideal weight) but we are more worried about his performance than a number on the scale."

Described by teammates as a "genetic freak" Taylor's weight issues have nothing to do with enjoying the festive season a little too much, but rather with the fact he builds muscle incredibly quickly. For that reason, Taylor was prevented from doing weights altogether at the Brisbane Broncos for much of last season, but it was not until he got his weight down to 117kg towards the end of the year that fans saw the best of the man they call the "Coal Train".

Having missed out on selection for the end-of-season Kangaroo tour with a series of bulldozing performances that lifted Brisbane into its 18th-successive finals series, Taylor was invited to last weekend's Emerging Origin camp, where his weight was again on the agenda. Coach Mal Meninga was adamant Taylor would need to be playing long minutes to be in the frame for Origin selection.

SOUTHS' giant forwards Dave Taylor and Sam Burgess will finally be unleashed in the red and green on Sunday when the Rabbitohs meet the Sea Eagles in the first trial of 2010 - and it will be against a bunch of teenagers.

New recruits Taylor, 21, and Burgess, 21, will be named in the Rabbitohs' side for the members' only Return To Redfern clash when Souths announce their team later today.

Souths fans have been waiting months to see their new stars in action and Rabbitohs ticketed members will have the first chance to see Taylor and Burgess demolish a defensive line.

While Souths are expected to name a side containing NRL, NSW Cup and NYC players, Manly have elected to blood emerging talent, naming a 25-man side made up entirely of players from their NYC squad.

Manly will be coached by NYC mentor David Penna.

The big winners from the mismatch will be the 5000 capacity crowd at Redfern Oval who are likely to see a bloodbath if Taylor and Burgess get on top of their smaller opponents. Burgess impressed for England last year.

The funny thing is that it'll no doubt be a cricket score, and all the opposition fans will start bagging us without having a clue it was our under 20's playing.

This will give our kids a good start to the NYC season too

It will be hot and Burgess and Taylor will struggle.  If our guys throw the ball about and run them ragged then it will be good for us.  Not hopeful of a 'win', but looking forward to seeing Burgess and Taylor stretchered off.

Woudlnt it be great if Deadwood accidently fell on Burgess' knee

Funnier if Deadwood actually outplayed Burgess and Taylor on the weekend.

Can't understand why des didn't call up Jimmy Curtis as well as the score will probably be similar to that infamous day at the sports ground when souths anialated us.
