SUSPENDED Sea Eagles centre Steve Matai believes starting 2011 on the sidelines will be a “blessing in disguise”, with his lay-off offering increased recovery time for his troublesome shoulder.

Did anyone at the club bother to have his Kiwi representation count against his suspension? Surely he would have payed the 4 nations if available and would then be available for Round One?

hows he a cheap shot merchant???? .. when his tackles go wrong they are careless not cheap shots!!!!!!!!!!!!.. but when he hits them they(the opposition) know & always after keep an eye out for him.. thats what we want, the attack from the opposition to be worried down matai`s corridor no easy passage..

Matai = Very close to an outright thug, its when very close becomes too close that he has a problem.

My email to asklowie on 11/11/2010
"Have you applied to get any reduction of Steve Matai’s suspension in light of the fact he has also been prevented from playing for New Zealand? Sounds like double punishment otherwise."

    Still hoping for an answer.

I reckon if you head high tackle either Farrah or Ennis, the judiciary should give the guilty party credit days suspension as reward !

I agree he should have been rewarded for knocking out a germ like Innis, however we don't have the depth to cover regular suspensions for ill discipline. However, you can't doubt the guys passion.
