If we lose this guy then it's the fault of the 'retention committee', whoever they are.  This love affair with Orford stands in the way of rejuvenating our scrum base.  Another two years of indecision and groin strains stands in the way of the team going forward.  Disappointing to say the least.

If we have faith in a young player then the club should sign them long term at near the mininmum NRL salary. They don't even have to be part of the top 28 but be on our books. This happened with Cuthbo - allowed him to play a handful of top games, the commentators start to rave and we end up paying way over for a junior who looks promising. Now Foran. I want him to stay but we are making it expensive for ourselves in the way we manage their contracts.

We have to hope Willie Mason stays at the chooks, they will have some money to throw around if he gets the punt

Easy to say, but why would a promising junior sign a long term contract on minimal pay?

Mason will be gone at the end of next year anyway so his money will be available to use for foran if they want.

In our favour is that the roosters have a pretty poor roster and it will take Smith at least two years to bolster it up to a reasonable team and hopefully they will collect another wooden spoon next year.

The best way to keep him is if the rumour if correct that we have signed his brother Liam for a couple of years.  Does anyone know if we have signed him yet as has been suggested on a few other sites recently?

Those ideas above are all good, but unrealisitic

Foran already has a contract for next season, and he would know, and would certainly have a manager telling him, that he wasn't far from 1st grade and it would be foolish to sign anything before when his value will go up a long way with each NRL appearance
