More changes

In his short time here Peter V'Landys has had an immediate impact.
  • Got rid of Greenberg.
  • Got rid of the 2 refs and is using fulltime referees as touch judges moving forward.
  • Simplifying the bunker and limiting the amount of times the bunker can be used.
  • He's shown his intention to upgrade suburban grounds and play semis out of the suburban grounds.
  • Moving the Grand Final back to a day game.
  • Saved millions in staff but has invested in the future.
  • Looks like signing a longterm TV deal
- looks like reducing the interchange next year to 6
** Lastly needs to get rid of the no fault stand down policy**
Its amazing one guy can have so much positive influence in such a short amount of time.

Also I'd like him to implement a change in ticket pricing for next year and beyond. $20 a ticket or $50 a family for general admission. I know this one is more down to the clubs themselves but maybe NRL can subsidise the price somehow.
If he can add this to his list of achievements I'll deadset start to think about batting for the other team 🙂

Behest to the broadcasters I fear , something AFL isn’t, and it looks like NRL is following suit.

That's the one thing (or at least, one of the things) where the AFL have always done better than the NRL. Channel 7 are basically there to broadcast the game and that's it. They don't dictate who plays what days etc, its the AFL who have 100% control of the draw and 7 are there as nothing more than the television broadcaster. Rugby League (NSWRL/ARL/NRL) on the other hand have since 1992 been playing to the whim of Channel 9 and what they want.

The NRL need to introduce a GA season ticket/family ticket that allows people to go to any game. For example at $400-$500 a family you can go to 20 games at whatever venue you choose. Get people supporting the game not just the club.
If all the Sydney clubs could come to an agreement to include 2-4 flexi games in full season ticketed membership, I'd definitely take up the option. Would be great for getting fuller stadiums with better atmosphere.

Great praise to PV. He's shown that a boss makes strong decisions and listens to its 'shareholders', which includes fans like us.
I'm fully behind all the decisions, particularly getting back to one ref and limiting the influence of video refs.
We must expect that over time he'll make mistakes. For example, the six-again rule could prove problematic.
I guess all rules are 'problematic' when you have a biased ref. Provided the refs give each team a fair go, and rule on what they see not who they support, then rugby league as a spectacle should improve immeasurably.
I think PV is the type of boss who will listen to fans before listening to the whinging coaches, most of whom don't have the best interests of the sport at heart. Their interest lies solely in winning any way they can in order to retain their high-paying jobs. Whenever a coach speaks it is wise to analyse the reason behind his 'opinion'.
I give you as an example the winless Dogs' coach Dean Pay who wants all clubs to re-start on nought points.....

And yet the biggest and best challenge to come for PV

Can he find a way to get rid of Sam Fucn Burgess of all TV, radio and any other medium that presents him to the public

I hate souffs and voted for never letting them back in the comp but would swap my vote & welcome them back for a trade if we never heard or saw that GOOSE

He has done nothing and got away with everything

Vermin

in fact throw in the whole family and I rescind my words

we should never ever ever have let them back in the comp
