SEA EAGLES EYE SEGEYARO

The Manly Sea Eagles have shown interest in signing comeback hooker James Segeyaro.

Manly could become the 31-year-old’s fifth NRL club after stints at the Broncos, Sharks, Panthers and the Cowboys where he started in 2011.

The former PNG international is returning from a 20-month ban from the NRL’s anti-doping tribunal.

The future of Manly’s No.1 hooker Manase Fainu remains in doubt while he faces charges for an alleged knife attack two year ago.

Segeyaro’s manager Sam Ayoub has spoken to Manly coach Des Hasler in recent days.

The possibility of him returning via feeder club Blacktown has been mentioned.

Segeyaro has not played since September 2019 after he was found to have the drug ligandrol in his system. Ligandrol is the same substance to which Australian swimmer Shayna Jack returned a positive sample

Geez the use of ‘big name’ is quite misleading haha!

Segeyaro was good for Brisbane.

Untimely suspension.

Great depth option and could work his way to the bench 14 role by the end of the season if he plays well. Otherwise he can sit comfortably in reserves as a cheap depth option if not.

As others have said, there is no bad in this signing. It will be a train and trial contract. He is experienced and explosive out of dummy half and could really carve up under the new rules. Maybe the perfect #14 and great depth.
If he doesn't perform then he stays at Blacktown and nothing lost! He is the closest thing to Fainu that we could possibly sign and has the potential to be one of the buys of the season.

This try is from his fist game with the Broncos and it is against the 2019 Premiership winning team the roosters

Shifty Segy is close to the line and the roosters forwards had him lined up

But the swift and Shifty Segy fools them once again with his Pet play and scores

Listen the commentators reaction

Quote
" He has pulled down teams pants down so many times "

@Smokin Joe We know what happens when a teams pants are down ...
They get screwed !

It's good...but that was 3 seasons ago, now he's 31, not old by NRL playing years but he's been out of the game for 2yrs now. Beggars can't be choosers, and should be happy that Manly have thrown him a lifeline to play some footy again.

I understand that was 3 seasons ago

The positives here is that his body is fresh from footy injury

and at 31 years of age an athlete was plenty of testosterone left in them to screw the opposition
