Discussions between the Storm and Milford began this week and appeared to intensify immediately, with speculation following that the club would offer the 22-year-old more than $1 million per season over five years.

Multiple reports came through on Friday that Melbourne's bid fell short after Milford decided it was not the right time to leave his family.

Everyone knows that fourth and fifth party payments are on the way to Milford. We do not have a level playing field and the NRL dont give a stuff!!

Yeah, great in attack, however his defence is terrible when you compare it with Thurston, Cronk, DCE, Cleary, Austin etc. He'd be an absolute immortal in touch or Oz tag.

I had to laugh yesterday when I saw one headline that said Milford rejected a big dollar offer to stay in Brisbane.

What they will pay him in TPA's would make the Storm's offer look like the league minimum.
