As an employee (a player) I think this is an excellent solution and an employee focused decision that allows younger players the opportunity to gain experience and prove their value without waiting years behind established players. It allows more players to gain experience - which, given the likely expansion coming up for the game, would increase the pool of experienced players.
This is NOT about fans obviously.... but still - if I knew that our 'future' halfback was going to get some game time for Wests Tigers, I would tune in and watch the Wests Tigers game to see how he goes.
Gets more eyeballs on the game, helps spread talent, and builds the talent pool in future.
Smart business decision if you ask me.
