I understand this was caused by studs on Choc's boots. I'm not suggesting anything, but does anyone know if the ref still checks the player's boot studs before matches?

Yeah they do. I think its one of the touchies who does it for the teams. I saw them doing it earlier

A stud may have come out of Choc's boot if he has screw ins, though it wouldn't be hard to tear in like that

Studs are very rarely used these days, most players prefer the moulded blades

It was a bed week for leg injuries at brookie.
Michael Luck, Shane Rodney & one of my boys broke his ankle running down the back of the hill at half time.

The first aid staff & security were very good - major raps on them.

Missed the second half as was at mona vale hospital.
