Manly showed in the i st half against the Tigers that they are capable of a good structured defensive effort , 2 nd half against the Roosters , some positive attack . Combine the two today and every opportunity to get the job done . Confidence and self belief will go up a few notches with a good result today also .

Dry weather finally.

Our handling/completions will improve dramatically and if our forwards get the job done, we should have too many options for the Warriors to keep us contained.

We are blessed to have both Api and Fainu in the 17, Taupau and AFB, Tom, DCE and Jake can work really well together when the passes stick. All 3 have the ability to run the opposition defences ragged with their ball playing and support play.

Suli, i hope he is playing, his confidence is growing and is like an extra forward out there to wear the opposition down.

Elgey, has a great step and quick off the mark. This is his strong point.

Parker. Just needs to be a link man. If he can primarily focus on having a good selective/effective passing game and support game then we will be less clunky on his side of the field. Not much pace, but has a nice step to create some space or an overlap so he can offer something nice to the team if he gets his basics right.

We can win this one by 30 if we get on a roll with our combinations.

I've been very impressed with what the Sea Eagles have been doing in Christchurch, full credit to the club and coach and players for that. Recently all the negative cultural aspects of rugby league have seemed so entrenched and anti-social that it has actually surprised me to see the approach Manly have taken to this trip. Des in particular has spoken with great insight and compassion and it's wonderful to feel proud of the club and the game again.
Still have a vital footy match to win, of course, so let's go Manly and top off an admirable week.

Might look at tweaking the stats we record soon as well

I just hope that the referees don't let emotion cloud their judgements and adjudicate fairly in these trying times.
Our winning Manly teams have proved in the past that if we are good enough we will also beat the refs
Our focus is all about our discipline and commitment to winning

Oh yes. We have some damn fine players. The problem is we have a lot average players around them and the great players we have have not to this point in time shown any leadership qualities.

Average players will lift when shown direction from the stars. You see it all the time. The unlikely figure of Ferguson has gone a long way to having the wooden spooners play good football due to him leading by example. That doesn’t happen with our team at the moment. DCE seems a reluctant captain and for all their brilliance the Turbots are a study in bad body language and indiscipline when things go against them.

I’d love to see our stars draw on the emotion of this week and make a conscious decision to run this football team with some passion. Chip and Chase has been banging on about this for a long time and he’s dead right. Time for some people to stand up and own this team.
