MANLY coach Trent Barrett considers next Sunday’s battle-of-the-beaches clash with premiers Cronulla in the Shire as the ultimate test for his much-improved side.

“The Sharks are the reigning champs. They are the benchmark in big games and we will know where we are at after that game,” Barrett said.

He regards the tough, uncompromising and talented Sharks at their home ground as a great test for his side.

“We are preparing for what will be a battle and have been looking forward to this game for some time,” the coach said. “The players are going to enjoy the challenge.”

The away game will mark the first of a tough three week on the road for Barrett’s side.

After the Sharks, the Sea Eagles will travel to Perth for what is a home game against the Warriors before playing in-form Penrith at Pepper Stadium.

Manly’s form on the road this season has been outstanding and Barrett and his coaching team are confident that record can continue during the second half of the season.

Barrett has given his side four days off before the preparation for the Sharks continues on Monday.

I can see Manly winning by 13 plus.
Sharks halfback (whatsisname) will kick out on the full at least once.
Maloney will concede at least 2 penalties and miss 2 vital tackles.
Fifita won't even play as he will be charged with foul play in SOO2.
Gallen will hog the ball.
Bird and Graham are too famous now and won't be at their best in the club match.
Lewis and Heighington can't do it all on their own.
You heard it here first!*

FINALLY someone in the media has pointed out the HUGE speed advantage that Fifita's rule breaking gives the Sharks & other teams he plays for. As it is NSW no one will complain but it is a rort and he has been getting away it for years. But when Choc Watmough ever didn't use his foot to play the ball he & Manly got hammered by referees. Absolute rort.

“Sometimes it doesn’t even go underneath his leg. It’s the quickest play-the-ball in the game."

Sunday arvo footy is back.
A game we are not expected to win BUT we are in with a real chance.
I would think Jake won't play 80 after celebrating the origin series win.
Manly by 4.

Is Darcy back?

I'm feeling really confident about this one sharks forwards and backs will be stuffed while we have a fresh team with everyone 100%. If we hold the ball we should win this one.

Sharks were very lucky against the Tigers, that was a double movement every day of the week for mine!!

Hold the ball and we'll get the win!!
I agree they were lucky .... but I didn't think it was a double movement .... and I tipped the tigpies ..

In my view it looked like a double movement except when in the slomo you saw the tacklers knee hit the arm that promoted the ball. The ref thought it was a no try as well.
I will be going to the game .. should be good.

This will be really tough, the way Cronulla are allowed to play shuts our game down very well. They will be kept to a very small 10m, they will be off the mark early and they will be allowed to roll around in the ruck for as long as they like. It is a killer for us, on top of the fact that if we tried the same tactics we will be penalised out of contention. Cronulla are not that great a team, they have many aging players and the only way they have done so well is due to the fact they get away with the above tactics. They are a horrible team to watch because of this also
