Taufua set for Manly return

Manly star Jorge Taufau is set to make his long awaited return from a shoulder injury against Cronulla on Sunday.

The tackle busting wing three-quarter wasn't named in coach Geoff Toovey's side for the Brookvale Oval clash but he will likely take his place in the Sea Eagles side for the first time this season.

Taufua's return is a timely boost for Manly as they look to put last week's disappointing loss to Wests Tigers behind them, one of the club's most forgettable performances in recent memory.

The unlucky Peta Hiku is likely to make way for Taufua on the left wing.

"All the rehab's gone well so it's just up to Tooves to put me out there and see how I go," Taufua said earlier this week.

"I'm available, so it's up to Tooves if he picks me.

"A few boys have been playing really well but I'm available if he picks me."

"It's been a tough few weeks watching but I can't wait to get out there with the boys for the first game for me. I'm excited."

Glenn Stewart also returns for Manly after missing the Tigers clash with an ankle injury.

Star Sharks five-eighth Todd Carney will take his place in the visitors side after being sent home from training on Thursday with a "mystery illness".

Cronulla enjoyed their first win of the season last week, a 37-6 thrashing of the troubled Warriors.

But the Sharks will have to put a terrible record at Brookvale Oval behind them to score two successive wins.

Cronulla have enjoyed just five wins from 36 matches at the iconic venue since they entered the first grade competition in 1967.

I'm really looking to watching Epalahame v Mexico at 12:45 :D
(We must keep Hiku - he has the least amount of vowels in his name!)

Bit overcast, but hopefully Manly will bring back the light and skin the Sharkies at Brookie

Weather should be like yesterday, cloudbursts, glaring sunshine around 2pm then pouring rain early evening

I was really confident of a win today after last weeks bad performance but all this contract talk makes me think the team may not have their minds on the game once again. I hope im wrong.

Danger game. Best chance for the Sharkies at the Fortress in years.

Known as a 'hangover'.

Lets call him Daryl. think we will crush Daryl today. I am going to yell "Daryl" to him whenever he is near my bit of the hill.

From twitter

Confirmation David 'Wolfman' Williams has been dropped to make way for the returning Jorge Taufua. Peta Hiku retains spot on other wing #NRL

mmmm....must be tempting to play Peta given the warriors offer.Wolf is unlucky in my opinion.I hate replacing a specialist with a utility.Anyway hope he goes great and we bash these pretenders today.

Like Bones said, today will decide if this Stewart stuff is media garbage or is having a real effect.

The media garbage has not affected us in the past and it will not be an issue this year either . We have proven to be a resilient team . We are the Mighty Sea eagles and nothing breaks our spirit

Enjoy the game at Brookie, those that can make it, would love to be there!

There's lots of rain cells marching up along the coast, I reckon' Brookie will be lucky not to cop a bit later unfortunately - hoping for sunshine still of course!

Time for the Maroon & Whites to really show a comprehensive good 80mins of football, starting with relentless, solid defense.

Need Starling & Horo to put in good mistake-free performances, and pop up in support for some good breaks, as well as the bench players to perform well, and the rest will fall into place nicely.

Manly by 16-20, would like to see crowd ~15k, but prob ~12k.
Go Manly!

We will lose today, got that feeling again, wade graham will have a blinder ! Watch him to hit the holes running flat at the line ! Spells disaster for us in the wet !

All the best to the faithful too, esp on the hill if the heavens open again.
Hoping the wet doesn't hamper us too much like last Sunday ( and ALL this contract talk isn't a distraction!)

Big call by Tooves to drop Wolfie, but perhaps a nod to the future and I hope we bounce back strongly, whomever runs out for us!

Watch him get smashed by Matai . Spells a disaster for the Sharks . :D

There are about 500 here :s

The NYC was great 36-32.

Hope that Wolfie kills them - shame on all the knockers for kicking a man when he is down

G Rose is #11 for the Sharks in NSW Cup !

So Georgie hasn't got his release then @HappilyManly...

I hope Wolfie has a blinder too ( give Tooves selection headaches! )

And let those of us not there know how big Epi L goes...Hopefully better than one Gorgeous G Rose...lol!
