It's been a few weeks now and I think the side is only just starting to combine attack wise with a simplified game plan, the passion certainly looked to be there in both rd 1 & 3. So thought I'd make a review on the side. So here's a "small" review of the best side now that the dust has settled.

Backs
Trbojevic, Taufua, Walker, Kelly, Uate, Green, Dce, Korisau
Why They'll Be Good
Speedy, Skillful and strong, consists mainly of players who already are or are certain to be rep players in the future. Uate and Taufua have obviously improved under the high ball and the back five can play like forwards when given the ball, mainly making over 100m a game on average, although all can run hard and fast with some good agility, Solid defence as well from all, Walker did however have a shocker in rd 2 against his former side.
How They Might Go Wrong
Uate, Walker and Taufua can be seen as confidence players so if ever in a bad way we have to hope this trait is gone, believe this is the case for Uate and Taufua with some strong showings, Walker's a class act but has shown to be a little dependent on those around him, hopefully he can turn this around. Also may see Uate and Taufua's catching game go downhill from here, confident it won't although you never know.

Forwards
Darcy Lussick, Brenton Lawrence, Martin Taupau, Curtis Sironen, Jake Trbojevic
Why They'll Be Good
Lussick, Taupau, Lawrence and Jake Trbojevic all lead by example. Simple, that is what you want in a pack, people who are not just waiting for something to happen, a quality of this side. The bench rotation will only enhance the power game these forwards will supply, mixed with the capability of producing skillful attack through offloads and Siro's halfback-like ball ability. The metres made by this pack will be something to see and as long as we can keep them all on the park we will be running over most opposition sides, providing plenty of big hits along the way.
How They Might Go Wrong
Siro hasn't exactly provided too much as of yet, more involvement is required otherwise we bring lane to start, Winterstein another option, however he also hasn't shown too much manly passion either. Other than that I see little weakness in this pack, Taupau's a New Zealand international, Jake Trbojevic's a Future NSW Blues and Australian International star, Lussick's a City-Country rep, worthy of Blues jersey, Lawrence holds his heart on his sleeve and Siro has all the potential.

Interchange
Jackson Hastings, Addin Fonua-Blake, Nate Myles, Shaun Lane
Why They'll Be Good
Good mix of Impact and Skill. Lane and Hastings providing great cover for almost all positions on the park should anything go wrong injury-wise. Myles showed he still has some life in him if only he wants it enough, and Fonua-Blake, well he's self explanatory, comes on, runs hard, tackles hard, gives his all and he is a crucial part of this team.
How They Might Go Wrong
Lack of experience may hurt us, although then again that is common throughout plenty of NRL side's benches. Hastings may get ahead of himself and Lane may not have what it takes although they deserve every chance to continue to prove themselves following good showings against the Cowboys this week.

Reserves

Lloyd Perrett, Billy Bainbridge, Cameron Cullen, Lewis Brown, Frank Winterstein, Matt Wright, Brad Parker, Jarred Kennedy
Positives
Plenty of range, some up and coming players with potential, some experienced players. Provide plenty of competition throughout the side with the likes of Perrett, Winterstein, Cullen, Brown and Bainbridge all wanting to play first grade. These guys cover all positions.
Negatives
Probably lacking a little power, however these guys should get the job done coming in for any injured players.

Overall 7/10 to 8/10 on paper, looked 1,000,000/10 against the Cowboys, how will we continue to play...

Rate optimistic as you wish, however this is just the way I'm seeing it, let's now rip into the dogs this week, hope the players continue to show the renewed determination to play for the proudest club of all, the best club of all and come home with two more points.

Siro is a ball player not a work horse. There's enough of those already so he should round into form with the big boppers back on deck.

I'd also be conscious of reviewing after a big win because you're letting the final score cloud your judgement. Within that game there was great defending but you'd need to look at why they had to do so much of it then re-rate accordingly. Still a lot of wrinkles to iron out namely ball control and penalties.

On ya H
Nice perspective

Sorry but I think a team review at this time is a tad premature. Unless we are like wests and considering axing some staff. Let's perhaps wait until about round 8. Lane named as an interchange player he played about ten minutes and if we had others available he'd be out at blacktown. Granted he made a great break and set up Hastings but I think we need to see more of this guy and a bunch of others really.
My review to date would be 2 strong showings defensvley due to awful ball control and discipline. Some promising signs but the jury's still out. Let's see how we go sat vs dogs.
