Manly Sea Eagles expose Jarryd Hayne

A BUSTED and bruised Manly have exposed Jarryd Hayne’s Achilles heel, leaving NSW coach Laurie Daley and club counterpart Neil Henry mulling massive selection calls around the Titans superstar.
Hayne is expected to take up a lucrative $1.2 million option to stay at the Gold Coast by the end of the weekend, but his days at left centre are surely numbered after a Sea Eagles side reduced to 14 fit men successfully targeted Hayne en route to a gutsy 30-10 win.

Hayne needs to play fullback to be effective.
He was really poor against us. Let's hope that he picks up his form for NSW because by all accounts he is going to be picked.

As long as he hasn't got Elgey inside him he'll go OK.He just wasn't getting any quality ball. Had they thrown it his way in the second half, we would've been f@cked.

Hayne played well in the centres during the 2013 World Cup, but lets be honest, the opposition, even NZ and England, were a step down in class from what the Kangaroos showed in winning the tournament. Even Lewis Brown would have looked like a world beater in the Kangaroo three-quarters.

Not saying Hayne can't play because he definitely can, but as @The Who said, he needs to be at fullback (or at worst on the wing) to be effective. In the centres, as last night showed, he does not get involved enough and we had him well contained. He is also a defensive liability in the centres as he tends to get caught out of position a fair bit.

Personally, if I was Daley, since we know he's going to be picked, I would seriously think about playing him at fullback or on the wing.

You noticed that too huh? Even on the telly you could see both Hayne and Copley constantly calling for the ball to go their way after Walker's cork but Elgey and Taylor rarely threw the ball left.

I dont watch much footy but henry must already know he is **** if he selected roberts at fullback. How good was he. So why pay hayne 1.2 mill. It just doesnt really work

I hope that Hayne takes up his option - the Gold Coast / NRL deserve him after blowing smoke up his nether regions when he returned from his multiple dream journey. Hayne jumped the shark when he left the NFL, since then it has been decidedly underwhelming. Marquee dud.

I was listening to a podcast the other day. It was the Titans COO Tony Mestrov. He was asked by Ben Ikin, why Hayne wasn't playing fullback.Tony said because fullbacks do twice as much mileage in a game compared to centre, and Jarred hasn't reached that fitness level yet, there happy to play him at centre, until he does. He said fullback is definitely his spot.
He also said they look to Roberts as a utility only. With Taylor and Elgey the preferred halves! (Elgey must have the goat photos!).

Thanks Tony Mestrov! Keeping hayne at centre really helped manly's cause on Saturday.

When do you officially start work at narrabeen?

I am a big fan of Hayne, but he looks completely disinterested. The hype has disappeared and so has his effort. At his best, I think he should be fullback for the blues (and Titans)
If he continues his poor attitude, it will be sad watching such a gifted player undo a legacy underpinned by freakish brilliance. Let's hope he gets it together for NSW sake

The Hayne Drain was off the pace the other night. For some reason the Titans didnt play him at full back and it was a blessing for us, seeing how poor their fullback was. I hope that NSW pick him on the bench because he could fill the utility role in full back, wing or five eighth are positions he covers.

I'm hearing from a source close to titans training staff that all the players and most of the staff HATE Hayne and want him gone. Two quotes stood out in a conversation I had on the weekend,
"The thing they fear most his Hayne picking up his option for next year."
"Hayne tells the players how lucky they to be playing with him."

I think you will find that is why they don't pass to him.

Also think back to all the stories from before his injury this year about his poor training.
The guy sounds like a real douche.
