Manly Salary Cap 2020 and beyond

Does anyone have a clear understanding of the Manly salary cap for next season ??

There will be an auto addition that has been taken out 2018/19 of $350,000 a season (Approx)

Obviously the retention of young stars on the rise is a priority, though should not be overly expensive until proven at the top level....

There will be players passed on and this is debatable is in who this will be....

There is the $600,000 plus, hanging over this Walker saga, but if he is allowed to play and hits top form, could play himself back into the squad also.....very cloudy situation.

All I know is we have just about the most number of players off contract as any club.

I’d expect a fair bit of “ upgrading” and some possible surprises.

Gutherson may well be one of those ( and know I don’t know anything).

I think its always impossible to gauge, you never know who is back ended or front loaded, on TPA's or veteran allowances, who is getting some of their tab picked up by former clubs.....it is a minefield

Heck it is hard to have a definitive list of who is off contract.

What I will say with confidence is that Perrett, Hokinson won't be with us next year, I also doubt we will have Taufua, Thompson, Walker, Parker and Tanginoa......Api could go too

That would leave us 7/8 slots in our 30 man squad and I expect Schuster and Gaucamole to take two (Burbo in development squad). So i think we will be fairly active in the market, maybe 2 bigger name players and some younger and fringe talent

Thompson will go - $600k
Walker will go - $600k
Perrett will go - $400k
Salary cap lifted - $350k

That's $2m between 3 players.

With AFB, Turbo, Jurbo, DCE, Api, Fainu, Waddell and Siro already locked up.

The rest would mostly be in minimum or close to it and wouldn't be demanding much more. Maybe slight increases for those who are doing well, release the ones who aren't and bring in a fresh mix of talent, experience and marquee players .... but I think this is the best position Manly has been in for many many years.

In Des and Crusher we trust.
I may well be wrong on this, but pretty sure Perrett was on $400K at the Bulldogs...which is why Des let him go. I don't think we picked him up for quite that much - he was playing reserve grade at the time and had been for a while from memory? Kinda like now, in fact...

But either way - you're right, we will have plenty to play with!
