Manly Points Breakdown by Quarter

Strongly supports the growing case that the players are behind the opposition in terms of fitness at this early stage of the season.

They definitely ran out of steam yesterday in the last 15 minutes. Rather ironic given that Des prides himself on us being the fittest side in the comp.........stats suggest otherwise

A flood of penalities in the 1st half to the Warriors (king gace away 2 or 3 in 5 mins), then a few drop balls from Choc & heath in the 2nd was a major contribution to this.

Having said that not playing trials in OZ and all the travelling probably didn't help our fitness levels coming into the season

Interesting. Don't forget our guys played (with ever-increasing intensity) right up to the very last weekend in 2008. Then several (7?) of them were involved in the world cup which ate right into the off-season break. Then the team had to prepare to be 'up' for the WCC, which has proved to be a big challenge in recent years.

So I am not too concerned if some of our big forward guns in particular take a little while to roll into top form. Burnout is a big danger for us towards the end of this year, but I'm sure Des is aware and has some plans...

Good point SER8, maybe Des is working towards September not March, I hope so anyway
