Manly players at Blacktown

Prop Kurt DeLuis back with Workers for 2021,had a year away for an off field incident(I believe).Good player with a big engine,looks seriously in shape and as fit as has ever been,will push our young guys for game time in reggies.

You raise an interesting point .. I would think at Blacktown, that a player in our 30 would get priority over a player who isn't ... how much independence does the Workers coach have on team selections? ... I would assume even his defensive patterns and general play would need to mirror our 1st Grade ...

After all, isn't the entire purpose of Blacktown to prepare our boys for the call up ?

Being a reggie coach was always a loveless endeavour ..

Johnny Fonua has signed with @blacktownworkers_official for 2021. Johnny is an electric fullback who posses great balls skills and pass selection.
Johnny played his junior football with Cabramatta before joining the Parramatta Eels in the Harold Matthews competition. He also played SG Ball and U/20’s for the Eels and has played NSW Cup for Wentworthville.
In 2021 John’s goal is to cement his spot in the Blacktown Workers NSW Cup team and earn himself a NRL top 30 contract.

Our top 30 plus our development players will always get selected over Workers players(even if not deserved).The point I was trying to slightly diplomatically say was that he will be hard to take minutes away from if and when he gets a shot in the front row rotation.
We are pretty deep in the middle but at some point with injuries he will get a shot and it will be hard for Ballin to not give him some longer minutes,I think he is a shot at a development contract for 2022 or higher.
Reggies coaches are always at the mercy of so many things out of their control,each week is a new challenge to deal with.I remember when Williamson was reggies coach,he was just a mouthpiece for Des at the time I believe(no malice intended)

Wasn't Miski getting a run over Anderson when Miski was signed to Blacktown and Anderson on development contract? Maybe an exception to the normal rule in this case.

I honestly have no idea,I did not go back through all team selections for the last couple of years before replying(lol).There are always exceptions to rules,maybe Miski did get selected,perhaps he got promoted to a development contract before being selected?

The N R L can grant special exemptions as well for selection for i st grade apparently if the normal availability of registered i st grade players becomes a serious problem and from guys in a 2 nd tier club or development arrangement .
