Manly - Penrith 2014

Ducked home for lunch and whats on Fox 2 ??
The Manly - Penrith game from 2014.
To make it sweeter, the clock reads 75 minutes and Manly are down 25 - 18.
Though i new the outcome what great viewing....the sublime skills of 2 x Lyons magic moments got Manly of the line in the last minute 26 - 25.
Some great players on show including Snake, Matai, Choc and Foran....celebrating with a delirious crowd as Sowards starts spluttering and crying, after thinking the game was in the bag.
1 of the Best victories I recall in recent memory, though have been plenty of great fight backs.
Anyone else recall the game....or better still, were there to witness the moment ??

I was on the hill everyone went nuts and then again! Happened so fast. Even though it was late in the game I had a feeling we’d jag the win, we were killing it and it just seemed like it was always going to happen.

Beers at the leagues club, I think the news had it on and everybody cheered all over again.

Somehow ended up at the wharf and then on a ferry home. Sorry sowwie

I was there. One of my favourite players, Tom Symonds, scored the winning try.
But soon after the victory the media started slamming Manly/Brookie for not stopping the clock and giving the 'Riff a few seconds to restart and snatch the win....
A crock of crap but it took away some of the sweetness of the victory.

Yep Symonds beat Soward to the corner and the work inside - Lyons a freak catch and pass in 1 motion to....believe it or not - "Big Jason King" - out to Hiku who dished onto Symonds to score !!
Speaking of Symonds, loved a try against Souths in a semi final we were down 12 or 14 nil....Wolf scored with an inch to work in past Inglis and Symonds confirmed victory with a late charge down Try !!

My late son in law Mick and I were down from Queensland for this one, went to the club afterwards then he drove ( non drinker ) to the airport and we caught the 10.00pm flight home.

What a day!!

Whenever I want to tell my son what it means to be a champion I mention this game.

Why?? Jamie Lyon has possibly the worst game in memory. Does 2 intercept passes (1 he basically handed to one of the Panthers) and is just playing terribly......does he hide? Does he sulk?

He inspires his team by putting himself back in the middle of the action and causes one of the greatest comebacks in Manly history.

That's a true champion. So many people would have hidden after the nightmare game he had.....he didn't, and a game that he wanted to forget became a game he will remember forever.
