Adam Lucius writes in this week's Northern Beaches Review (Inside Back):

"Donny Tied up in Knots
Veteran Manly Sea Eagles trainer Don Singe had the eyes of the NRL world centered on him last week after it was revealed he was unvaxxed while conducting pre-season training at Narrabeen.
Inside Back was told Singe was not against getting the vax but had a complicated "medical process" to follow before he could get jabbed and was following all NRL Covid protocols in the meantime.
The veteran high-performance manager, who is very much Des Hasler's right-hand man, copped a barrage of criticism but refused to respond - except when his choice of hairstyle was ridiculed by none other than shock jock Ray Hadley, who said of Singe: "I notice he's got one of those up ponytails which are normally worn by young blokes, not blokes his age. Anyway, that's his preference. He's a controversial figure."
As Singe explained with a laugh, the manbun has nothing to do with trying to look 21. He told us: "The top knot is a Maori symbol called Tikitiki. It's about the teachings of Maui - the Maori demi-god. (Tikitiki) is also the name of my home in New Zealand."
Singe will be back at Narrabeen barking orders at pre-season training within the next few weeks."

Haha, put that in your pipe and smoke it Hadley - so quick to criticise without checking facts
Hadley at it again this morning, he had it from an"insider at the club" that Donny was training the boys this morning, Hadley couldn't understand Scott Penn allowing it, as he and his father have made $Ms from healthcare.
So club insider, any thoughts, I didn't think Zorba had much to do with the club these days, that wouldn't stop him calling in to training I guess

So in the news this week we've had John Asiata being sacked by the Bulldogs for not being vaccinated & a rehash of this story on Singe.

I just find it extremely unlikely the club would allow Singe to be working while unvaccinated unless there are legitimate reasons for it.

Lucius' article above states:

"Inside Back was told Singe was not against getting the vax but had a complicated "medical process" to follow before he could get jabbed and was following all NRL Covid protocols in the meantime."

That sounds like legitimate medical reasons causing delays in him getting vaccinated & not at all like the club & Singe both thumbing their noses & breaking the rules as per Rothfield's story, which is sounding more like a beat up to me as more info comes out.

Have to assume the information yesterday that some 90 % of covid patients in N S W hospital beds were not vaccinated and some 95 % in ICU were also unvaccinated is accurate . Pretty irrefutable evidence that higher transmission rates are almost inevitable unless there is some practical or even partial restrictions on those who for whatever reason chose not to get the vax , Intrigued that most countries would still have functional quarantine facilities and have over all eras for whatever purpose , Including Ellis island in the U S to debunk some of the wacky conspiracy theories from there questioning the necessity of such facilities .

Well I had a lovely Skype chat today with my diabetic specialist doctor. In it he asked me had I had the jab? I said, I’ve had the first one, and tomorrow I’ll get the second. He said good. But you do realise once they open the border on Monday, the Gold Coast will become a mini-Sydney, but he didn’t stop there. He went on to say you will get it, I will get it. At this point, I sarcastically said, thanks for that. Then he moved his face closer to the camera, and said "do you see me smiling?, by February/March Qld will be the leading state in Covid related infections!" Then he pauses, and i can see hes looking at my latest blood work and recent scans. Then after what seemed to be an age, he groans and asks if I have any questions. "Nup, no, nothing to add, see you in three months". He says (and Im not making this up), if we are still around. Says gooddbye and ends the call.
Ten minutes later, up comes an e-mail. His invoice for payment….$120 bucks. What a champ (and yes Im using "champ' in the prison context.)

Gee ,that sounds

Gee , that sounds on the pessimistic side , would surely buck the general Australian trend and likely outcome forecasts . Can only assume that you will be or try to live as normal and healthy life as manageable so can 't see how you would be any more susceptible and being double vaxed as the average Joe Blow would put you even less in the again susceptible category all things normal . , Anyway strength and positive vibes to you and hopefully the silver Tails spirit will play its part too

Your statements are false and there is no tolerance for false information about vaccines on this site. Feel free to produce an unedited quote from Dr Fauci if you can but that ridiculous edit job of a video doesn't cut it. I have heard Dr Fauci speak many times and he is always extremely clear. The vaccines are important to prevent sickness and death and reduce transmission of the virus. It was never claimed they would prevent every single person from getting sick and it was never claimed the vaccine would stop transmission. It will reduce transmission, in conjunction with other measures such as masks social distancing and hand washing. This is the message we've been getting since the start.

As for your last line, no I don't agree at all, however what do you (and Dr Malone) propose?
I watched a great Doco on Dr Fauci called Fauci.I’ll put my hand up and honestly say I hadn’t heard of him before, even though he turned 80 this year. (Yes the rock I live under is very comfortable).
He’s gotta be the best looking 80 year old bloke I’ve seen (not that it’s my thing).
An amazing life. Not scared to say when he got things wrong in the past (AIDS/HIV). But rather than dig his heels in, he goes back and finds better ways of communicating with his adversaries.
The way he handled Trump was the mark of a very tolerant and good man.
As the saying goes, everyday you learn something new. Well I got it in bucket loads watching this doco.

What we all need to understand is that NSW for instance is almost 95% double vaxxed. So logically the majority of hospitalisation cases and deaths will be those who fall in the double vaxxed category.

The 3 people who died over the weekend were all vaccinated.

"A man in his 80s who was a resident of the Gillawarna Village Aged Care facility in Sydney, where he acquired his infection, was among the deaths announced on Saturday.

He had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine but had underlying health conditions.

It is the second death linked to the facility.

Two other fully vaccinated people - a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s - also died on Friday."

The new Omicron variant which so far seems less potent than the Delta is being transmitted to/by the fuĺly vaccinated.

IMO the curent vaccines are ineffective against this strain because the spike proteins have changed/mutated such that the protective antibodies afforded by the original vaccine are prevented from binding to it.

So am not sure what the boosters are supposed to do? The vaccine's efficacy against the Delta variant has already been shown to be waning. It's all very concerning. We need to adapt like the virus. I don't think we can vaccine our way out of this

Actually was just mentioning a reference from the NSW health director , officer [ or one of them ] with those stats It does become more complicated with the ongoing virus [ covid ] strain variations and in relation to the evolving vaccination state of affairs but underlying medical preference has always been maximum vaccination rates so pretty much status quo there i guess . Herd immunity with minimal damage or community harm is also still the main objective so probably not that much different from your perspective , Just the method of getting there and eventually living with it with some sufficient measure of control and containment . Anyway you always seem to approach subjects on here from an intelligent point of view and that has to be respected .

Ultimately I think we’ll all get it , but the reason I’m vaccinated is I don’t want to either die from it , or be hospitalised and spend weeks on an incubator.

And I have friends who caught it last February ( 2020) on a cruise ship , both of them were perfectly healthy for late 60’s and both now have a raft of severe issues which the medicos are all saying we’re caused when they had Covid.

So no we won’t “ vaccine our way out “ but hopefully we won’t get too sick whilst we are building herd immunity.

Sorry to hear about your friends. Out of interest, were they hospitalised when they got Covid last year? And have they since been vaccinated?

They were on the Coral Princess that sailed around South America for 6 weeks not allowed into any port.

Eventually ended up back at Miami , then flown to SFO and Melbourne where they had 3 weeks in hospital before eventually returning to Brisbane.

But the damage had been done and they are now suffering “ long Covid “.

There were no vaccines at the time but they’ve since been vaccinated.

They both are suffering kidney and liver failure and serious heart issues.

It is highly likely we will get it at some stage and many of us have probably had it without symptoms and without realizing. The infection rate is still very high at over 500 yesterday in NSW. Last Christmas we had 137 cases on the northern beaches and they put the place into lockdown for weeks. Yesterday we had over 500 new infections and they are easing restrictions tomorrow. Pretty strong indicator that the politicians are resigned to the fact they can't achieve zero infections and keep our economy afloat. They have focused on a high vaccination rate. Queensland opening the borders suggested that are resigned to this as well. Fortunately the majority of people have been sensible and selfless enough to have the jabs regardless of the potential risks otherwise our hospitalization rates and death rates would have been very much higher than they have been. Thank you to those that have vaccinated. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the Omicron variant is the beginning of this thing morphing into a virus that we can live with like the flu.

Or to be a carrier or spreader , that was my main motivation or moral obligation getting the vax . Sorry to hear about your friends , wasn "t their fault that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time so to speak . virus just doesn 't discriminate and those long term effects , can 't understand why this is being underplayed at the moment, . Just as scary and concerning as getting it , if not more .

They were certainly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Their story of six weeks on a boat , at times isolated in their room , and then having to fly home in a full “ hazmat “ suit and be isolated from each other for two of the three weeks in hospital is harrowing.

BUT, they are still alive , many on that boat aren’t.

Yes I think there multiple reasons for getting the vaccine and whilst I know it’s a democratic right to not have it , I still don’t get why people don’t.

Remember also my daughters 45 year old friend who died in Melbourne , caught it , unvaccinated ( and could have been ) , dead 10 days later leaving behind a husband a two children under 10.

A question

Do you think this is a democratic right? Or a public health issue much like seat belts in cars?

I am curious how it is logical that since 95% of people are double vaxed that the majority of people in hospital and emergency departments must be double vaxed people?
I thought that all the news and reports coming from hospitals was that the majority were unvaxed and only a few of the people there were vaxed and usually very old or with other complications?
This is why people are getting vaxed,so that the hospitals etc...don't get clogged up with people and that the unvaxed are the ones who are currently doing their best to clog it up.
