Cust looks the goods, need to let go of the deadwood (boyle, croker, thompson is retiring, elliott, waddell), sign a couple of cheapie young guns (farnworth, ray stone). I'm happy to keep just about everyone. With Fainu back, the emergence of Schuster and Hoppa as well as guys like Funa, Cust, Ola and Paseka all to get better I don't think we really need much. Walker back to centre and I'd be replacing Elliott with a strike winger. Saab/ Johnson/ Okunbor, someone with speed and spark. I'd even be happy to re sign Levi and start him for the first 25 mins and then bring on Fainu. Levi is coming good and starts fast, Fainu can comeon as a super sub against tired defenders.

Hoppa should be retained as long as it is a sensible deal - i.e. don't break the bank

If we don't hold onto Levi we'll find ourselves in same spot as this year if Fainu doesn't get cleared to play or gets injured. Don't care if it isn't Levi but we need some hooking depth one way or the other.

Yeah I said in another thread I'd like to keep Levi as our starting 9 even when Fainu returns. Play Levi for the first 20 and bring Fainu on to run a muck against tired defenders. Also considering we may not have Fainu to start the year

I don't think so.

Can’t compare to Suaalii mate... just cos hes getting 1m from the Waratahs doesnt mean Schuster is on a big contract at Manly... someone who until recently wasnt in the top 30.

I couldn't find Walker on the list. I presumed he was signed for more than $500,000 a season but his renewed contract must be for a lot less. Perhaps the club deducted the cost of damage bills?

Original deal was reported as $600k, took a pay cut to around $450k when he re-signed last year.

This is my point exactly. No one knows. The reporter bases it on assumed knowledge, not fact. Walker may well be on what you state but if it's not disclosed or made public then unknown.
I am a friend of the parents of one of the players and he's not on that list and his inclusion would probably come as a surprise as many here have him on way less than he collects and that's just one that is under assumed.

Newcastle won't be chipping in the bulk of his contract next year though.. so unless he takes a massive pay cut and can't see him staying.. then again maybe that's why we're not active in the market.. keeping the dollars for levi

While he is doing a job for us, I don't see anyone offering him starting hooker money. If we can get him for $200-250k as a replacement/backup hooker he is well worth it.
