Is anyone aware the Manase Fainu is banned for 3 games? I certainly wasn't.

Full article below, highlighted in RED is the mention of Fainu's ban

Koroisau fine despite not playing trials

  • Scott Bailey

Apisai Koroisau missed the back half of the 2018 NRL season with a foot injury.

Manly hooker Apisai Koroisau has no concerns entering round one of the NRL without a pre-season trial, despite being on return from a serious foot injury.

The lively Sea Eagles No.9 missed the second half of last season with a Lisfranc fracture sustained in round 14, costing him six months in recovery.

He's been given a light run back into 2019, rested from both of Manly's trials against Cronulla and the Sydney Roosters despite being fit to play.

"My injury is not a contact injury, so I'm not too worried about playing trials if I miss them," Koroisau, who re-signed on an unannounced three-year deal last year, said during pre-season.

"I haven't played trials for a few years and I felt fine going into round one. For some other people they might feel differently.

"With my foot it's all about load and running, so I would be pretty confident."

Koroisau was initially ruled out for 10 weeks with the blow, before scans revealed one of the bones in his foot had become displaced.

He was then forced to sit through Manly's horror end to the season, which saw them win just three of 10 games in his absence.

He is also likely to have to get through 80 minutes against the Wests Tigers on his return, with Manase Fainu still serving a ban from the end of last season.

The NRL has confirmed Fainu had copped a three-game ban after pleading guilty last September to filming an April 2018 sex act without consent, but two of those were taken up by Tonga's end-of-year Tests.

He also avoided a conviction in court after the magistrate took into account he had immediately deleted the recording, among other factors.

The 20-year-old is vying for Manly's bench utility position with the loser of the five-eighth battle between Kane Elgey and Trent Hodkinson, having impressed out of dummy-half at the end of last season.

"He's an incredible player - if he was at another club he would be playing first grade," Koroisau said.

"Right now he is biting at my heels."

Best kept secret ever .... or the Silvertail investigative posters have been very slack .... not a word of it ... even the media have him in their team sheets don't they ..

How come he played in trials then. Since when did these suspensions start last year as I seem to recall others involved in similar things that didn't attract NRL suspensions. 1 rule for us and another for selected few again is it ???

Pretty confident we will find Hodgko on the bench and will come on at about 30th minute, this till Fainu is back.

Napa only got fined.
How come Fainu was suspended?
Because he was convicted (without having a conviction recorded) by a Court for an illegal act.

Napa was just the subject of a porno and knew he was being filmed. No criminal acts were committed

Then how come he was allowed to play the trial games???
My understanding is that someone got suspended for a match in the finals pre grand final . To get him to play in the grand final the club wanted to arrange a trial game in the week off to use up the one week penalty- since then the nrl didn’t count trial games against suspensions

Was there talk of that for Cam Smith in 2008?

Noo I was talking about fainu being suspended for the start of this year !! So he will miss only round 1 ?
Are you talking about my Cam Smith comments or the NRL’s position in court today? They both sound equally ludicrous, but only the latter is true...

I posted this last year - an article which said he was ineligible for Tonga and why. It pays to pay attention.
