Why o' why didn't they claim he had injured his shoulders?

MANLY five-eighth Jamie Lyon has been found guilty of a grade one dangerous throw by the NRL Judiciary and suspended for one week.

Lyon was charged with lifting Melbourne's Billy Slater in the first minute of last Sunday's grand final loss at Telstra Stadium, but tonight could not convince a panel that he was not to blame for the dangerous tackle.

Manly coach Des Hasler tried to argue that Slater's twisting movement during the tackle forced the Storm fullback into a dangerous position but the panel deemed that Lyon had not shown enough duty of care for his opposing player.

Lyon can serve his one game suspension during next year's pre-season trials and will not miss any NRL matches.
