Lyon and Matai

By my reckoning, in two of our three wins this season, Lyon (against the Roosters) and Matai (against the Warriors) were arguably our best player on the field.

Yes, they are ageing, but they are still champions! In a team full of new faces, it's important for us to have these old heads to teach the new crop what it means to be Manly. They won't be around forever so enjoy them while we still have them, rather than yearn for their retirements.

Skivvi can last another year, Lyon is playing well also but he may have to leave for our future which will be walker taking his spot.

there was some standout 1% plays by both against NZ...
Lyon dived on a ball near the Manly 22m in a desperation effort,t when Warriors were threatening.
Matai done several hit ups through the meat of the Warriors to gain momentum deep in Manly territory.
Both stepped up - then again, the entire team was solid...

Stevie spent a fair time sniffing around the middle of the field yesterday. He got really involved and it paid dividends.

Feel a bit lucky to have watched these two top shelf players giving their all in a Manly jersey..

They've given everything they are to this great club..

Money cant buy the wealth of experience and composure these guys and others like Snake bring to the team. Our new team will be strong while these guys are pulling the strings.
