There are no instant answers to this horrible situation, but I know 1 thing 100%
keppie is not the most talented player on earth, but showed what a difference it can make showing heart and fight....the game turned into an arm wrestle for 30 minutes when he came on and I truly believe without him and Aloiai we would have been down by 34 - 0 ht rather than 22 - 6 ....almost 22-10 if Keppie got the ball down after running over Kikau, which was impressive
I reckon Des should do a highlight reel of Keppie and Aloiai playing direct with purpose and build the rest of the game around that....regardless of the outcome Manly would compete and the opposition would know they just played a hard game of rugby league, not touch football.

DESpicable's mantra is "complete your sets". But that is too simple a premise for success.
The Dogs have a good completion rate with the ball, yet have failed to score in the past three matches. That's because during each set you need to be focussed on making an impact, not simply holding on to the ball.
Both Dogs and us lack creativity in the backline. It's why we are both winless. Defence is very important, of course, but if you don't score you'll never win a match.

Can't hurt Rocky give funa and tuipoluito a run I'm all for it.Id get them all gathered together and ask who wants to give 100%and go from there least I'll see a improvement
Yeah amongst many head scratchers so far, i cant believe Funa (with the exception of some small bench minutes v rorters) and Harper haven't been given a run so far. I don't think they are going to be stars but they are young, unproven and worth a look at least.

I have only a little time for Anasta, but he nailed it tonight
The Dogs were told by Barrett and co they need to simply complete sets to win the game.
This has made them so paranoid, they don't take opportunities playing safety first and end up with zero or little points.
Manly had 50/50 possession on Thursday night, but could not convert to points
"Im not gunna support you as we need to complete the set and to offload and put pressure on the defence is a risk to our attacking stats"
Well guess what - the ONLY try was a late offload by Keppie for Cust to score....and half the tries across the NRL in today's game are exactly the same way, or the next play....

Sounds good to me, why not.

I'd like to mention I watched Aloiai come off last night and he was fully spent (little wonder after 190 metres/20 tackles). Was on his haunches trying to get a breath to walk back to the bench. I had no doubt he had given his all...

Marty has “ checked out” you can clearly see that.
So would I if told to look elsewhere!
True, but if that's the case wouldn't you think he'd lift his game to secure another deal, here or elsewhere. It's hard to work out where Marty's head is now but when the game ended I saw him standing forlornly on his own with his head dropped. I hoped he was ruing his poor game and lack of involvement of late...

He has been good for us. I really like his effort and work rate - he wants the ball and goes after it.

Bit hard to be enthusiastic when you know you’re not wanted. Also he knows what he can do & I’m 100% sure any other club will take him in a breath. I also don’t believe he’s been that bad. I’ve watched the games & to me he has ripped in each time & has been making meters & yes has made a few errors from trying too hard... but super coach has him playing less minutes lately...same with Paseka. When you try so hard only to see others pi$$ing away any momentum you try to create with errors then of course your head drops especially when happening every week, yet the same culprits are welcomed to stay whilst you’re told that you’re not gonna be resigned.

I think that is a great point. I personally think Keppie is a bit of a plodder but he certainly has some fight and some ticker. Pity we don't have a few more with the same sized heart and giving the same effort. Aloiai is also a bloody damn good player. Very different to AFB but gee I am glad we have him!
