So the 21 that were named today included an uninspiring bench but as the title suggests - it just occurred to me that as we are down 4 props - they are basically the only 21 guys available from our top 25. We literally have no one else to pick, which is why even though we're light on forwards, the Wrights were included in the extended bench.

So that's that. Bummer.

That being said I hope you are right Loobs because I was blowing up deluxe at this weeks team. I think Barrett needs to decide between Cullen or Brown as our utility and include Bainbridge we can't afford to carry both of these guys on the bench.

I think they are excluded as our top 25 is the 21 named plus Tapau, Lussick, AFB and Perrett.

He'd only use that cap space to sign some nephews or second cousins anyway, so the squad would still easily be one of the weakest in the Comp.

We can. You aren't restricted to picking players from your top 25, you can pick a player from Timbuktu if you wish as long as they have an NRL sanctioned contract. Where the problem lays is that players outside of your top 25 (first tier salary cap) are governed by the second tier salary cap, and that isn't very substantial so it doesn't take long for it to be chewed up.

So it could just be that they don't want to dip into it this early in the season which considering how our past few years have gone injury-wise makes sense.

I'm not sure on that. The whole point of having a reggies side is so you can call on players in circumstances such as this. We have 4 or 5 decent sized forwards out of action at the moment, why not pick a prop from Blacktown ?? You aren't going to chew up 2nd tier cap in a couple of games so that's not the reason - maybe they just don't feel the Blacktown forwards can make the step up.

We are missing our 5 biggest boys so very hard to counter.

You can only get dispensation from the NRL if there are no other options to break the seconds tier cap. Options means a forward in the forwards or a Brown type in the centres etc, not prop for prop.

Then remember we are starting with only 23 to choose from.

Well actually haven't we dipped into our Top 27? If you include Snake and Skivvy that is. Wouldn't they be included in our Top 25 cap space? So, would that mean we are already into our second tier cap or do they have to play to be included?
