McCrone Set To Join Manly

Brent Read told Triple M Rush Hour there are a few clubs chasing Josh McCrone, who is out of favour at the Raiders.

Josh McCrone has been linked to the Dragons as their halves Gareth Widdop and Benji Marshall have been struggling to connect in recent weeks but it's believed"they can't fit him under the salary cap.

Ready went on to say the Sea Eagles look set to sign McCrone, who comes from Temora, as does new Manly head coach Trent Barrett.

Manly have re-signed Daly Cherry-Evans in the halves but with Littlejohn moving on and reports that Feleti Mateo may also depart there is a gap in the number 6 jersey with Kieran Foran off to Parramatta.

He must be average because I don't notice opposition players unless they're impossible to ignore. Like Blake Austin.

Put me down for a totally indifferent.

I actually don't mind him. He's solid and reliable and would allow DCE to dominate. I couldn't work out why Canberra went after Sezer when they already had Williams, Austin, McCrone and Cornish.
Naturally, i'd rather see someone already at the club given a go. There are just too many options already. Lyon, Hiku, Symonds, Gutherson, Travers, Pearsall, Aldridge (purposely not saying Snake).

I disagree, we still need to sign a half, the above may all be options to play 5/8 next to DCE but imagine if DCE got injured for 10 weeks

We need another player who could steer the team around, with Travers the only one in your list that could possibly do so

McCrone is not the answer for me but i wouldnt be against Cornish

Rudolph would be the backup half.
With the amount we're paying DCE, we're not going to have a combo like we do now. It's all eggs in the DCE basket. Like Storms with a rotating list of whoevers playing in 6 along side Cronk.

When you are paying one of your halves massive money what did you guys expect??? It was always going to be a low profile signing for the number 6.

I posted my thoughts on @Kiwi Eagle thread...gone?
Just to clarify my thoughts on McCrone....No,no,no,no,no He'd do a cpl things ok, then follow that up with some freaky ****ups....bit like Brad Takairangi @ Parra, Daniel Mortimer @ the Tits and to a lesser extent SKD in previous years(Was going well this year!:lipssealed:)

Jeez he went OK a couple of years ago . I'd sooner have him trying to cement the number 6 then a number 6 that's mind is in parramatta with the love of his life.

Im not against it.
He's solid without being spectacular.
And he has NRL experience, which is a big plus.

Duff, none of those players above are a long term solution at 5/8. Think we need a specialist half, not too keen on Mccrone - would rather cornish. But he is solid, especially as a back up.

I always thought he was okay. He might be one of those players who thrives in a different setting. So, yeah - it could work out. But it could also be a disaster. Welcome to the Brave New World…

Why so quick to write off Travers and Pearsall as long term options? McCrone could do a couple of years til one of them is ready.

They certainly look like very exciting products. That new tall 1/2 back in 20s looks likely as well.
