Aloiai has been less than underwhelming at Manly.

When he decided to stand up & spearhead the anti- Pride jersey campaign, my immediate thought was “you’ve been here 5 minutes & done SFA on field so pull your head in & just concentrate on playing well for us”.

He’s made more noise about fighting Paul Gallen & becoming a minister than he has on field.

I think that the coach and football department and marketing department could have sourced the players views first before implementing the pride jersey.

Just sayin’

He lost me forever over his bigotry in relation to the jersey saga, a player I wish was not at our club!
Ok !

But my point was only that any junior marketing person would know that you test the market BEFORE you implement the idea. I’m not a football fan of Aloiai, but credit to him he stands by his views. I feel that his views may be representative of the wider island community… we need to seek the views of all our stakeholders not just the white Australian marketing department and the white football department.

Before you criticise me, I am a massive fan of players like Ian Roberts and I don’t give a toss if someone is straight or gay ….. I just feel that more thought should have been implemented before action!

Just sayin’

It was extremely badly handled by the club and there should have been a wider consultation in relation to this idea.

Remember that 10 players opted not to play a game that we needed to win and Aloia said things that were discrimatory, bigoted and really unforgiveable!

Just saying!

I 100% agree with your second paragraph!

But you could say the same about Donald Trump …. And now he is the president of the most powerful nation!

There is a saying in leadership ‘ stand up for what you believe even if you stand alone’

Anyway I to was disappointed with the things he said … but not to be derogatory I don’t feel that he is the smartest or most articulate member in the team. I personally don’t take any notice of his comments

Aloia is no leader! His comments at that time demonstrated that.

The fact is the club did not win a game after that farce and it killed the 2022 season.

A leader of bigotory and exclusiveness is what he was and it split our club in a huge way. A dark time for our club!
There has been plenty of younger players say he is a leader over the last 3-4 years (mainly islanders). I think most people would listen to the players opinions on this considering they are with him daily but maybe you are right…

No ! He is a leader …. Maybe a dumb leader… but the fact that 10 other players followed him rather than the clubs directive , proves he is a leader.

May well be a leader off the field, but on the field is where he gets paid he has failed to lead the team in his primary role as a dominant front rower.

An inconsistent player for the club who goes missing more times than being a leader on the field for the club, would have more respect if he could lead with his actions and results on the field.

One thing that does concern me with Josh again is his stamina or lack of stamina level during most games he plays and that is not taking into account his injury prone situation during most of his Manly stint so far and missing a heap of games .
Has had some occasional stances of really good and solid efforts but for whatever reason and may well be caused by injury disrupted fitness levels , form and endurance drops off considerably and detrimental to the side for the most part .
and signed on until season 27 from some reports, so also , do not really know what to make of that club decision .
Especially in the present circumstances naturally when the likes of May or even Bateman are pretty much available on the open market .
But , it is what it is so club and supporters will just have to wear it i guess

Not really my point though - he'd been here 5 minutes & done nothing of note onfield yet put himself at the forefront of a team mutiny.

It could have been over any issue, it wasn't his place to do so IMO.

His playing response to being prone to regular howlers appears to be to go missing in games completely!
