I suggested this last year, however, Jacob looks to really grown in body shape and while others have suggested it as well, he could well become a number 13 with his defence, passing and kicking game.

I think Jake, as much as I love him and his effort and passion, has to move to the front row. He can still do all the defensive work, as he does in Origin, maybe not last year, but normally, and for Manly, and be a passing link as needed outside of dummy half.

Im not sure why we have signed the young 9 from the Bulldogs, however, apparently he is a real talent, which doesn't bode well for GCKT or Simpkin, and maybe Ennis, with Seibold, are looking for something else. Even Tevaga is an option.

I'm not worried about our forwards in 2025, particularly in the front row, as Paseka will evolve, hopefully Taukeiaho will add some strength and experience, Aloiai actually 'steps up' and then we have Jake, Bullemor , Sifley, Patola, James, Sykes and Mafoa.

Thye second row has only one certainty and that's Haumole. The other 2 is really open.

The backline is so full of talent, as long as Garrick improves his defence.

I think there's just a few gaps which may be filled with surprises.
As much as I admire the Frog, I think his days are numbered.

This is not a junior team where all that most seek is that the kids try their best. This is a professional NRL side in the big show with a salary cap of 11.7 million per season. The clubs needs to use the cap sensibly and not sympathetically.

That went out the window when we have Schuster $1 million to go else where.

What really erks me, is Schuster on the treadmill at Souths sporting a big smile. I guess I'd be smiling to, if I were getting 200k extra a season for doing nothing.

Worthwhile consideration and hope that Arther can have a real good run on the injury and performance front but not sure if he could transition into a fully fledged 13 option .
Should be able to come up with a reasonable outcome on the edges and at 9 but a bit more of a challenge at 13 .
Certainly have tried now quite a few alternatives at 13 in recent seasons and in the trials ,apart from Jake and Brown .
Alioia , Bully [ who i thought maybe could have made a go of it there ] Woods , even Keppie, Matterson but none really working out although Alioia wasn 't that bad at times
I would still be more inclined to give Talau and Navale a definite go there .
Obviously have resolved the 6 issue with Brooks, some interesting options for 9 and on the edges [ to compliment Haumole ] and to largely manage O K there but not so clear at 13 still , for the best results

Talau? Now that's an interesting suggestion for No. 13.

As a 13 in the NRL, you need to have strength and or size, and desire to play with the big boys "in the middle"

Last time i saw Arthur he was quite a skillful but thin half back.

What am I missing as several posters on here think he can play 13?

The 13 conundrum depends upon what the coach and other tactical thinkers believe we need there......

Do we need a strong defensive presence who can control the midfield? Then Jake is the man (and to be frank I think this may still be a Need).

Do we need a hard aggressive runner who can punch holes through the middle? Then Aloiai, if properly fit, is the man.

Are we confident with midfield defence and we want dogged tackling and some extra playmaking and linking with the centres? A bit more complicated, but maybe Froggy is the man.

TBH, the only recommendation I can really see for Talau at 13 is that he has some size about him. But to me his proper place will prove to be Centre, or maybe a running 5/8 paired with an organising half.

Hardly expect some overall consensus on the Talau 13 option .
Main reasoning again , he could find himself the odd one out in i st choice outside back positions but only just of course
Then seems to like a more robust type of play , particularly in defence and could be a bit of an X factor probing around the middle and given a little bit of room to move there
. Quite good hands and anticipation .
No reason why he could not adapt to a higher work rate .
Few examples of utility type guys like Dylan Walker , Cam Mc Guiness , Conner Watson and more of course making a pretty fair transition there .
Some limitations on what Jake and Brown can offer there over the full course of a game ,
Navalle maybe the only other worthwhile option as a 13 at some stage sooner or latter .
Talau maybe could be ready to go O K there now without too much preparation , as previously in the Dylan Walker instance
