Like Tutankhamun's tomb, it seems the Dally M Medal has become a curse

2008 - Orford > 2009 - Passenger

2009 - Hayne > 2010/11 - Myth

2010 - Carney > 2011 - Drunken Bum > 2012 - Clubless ?

2011 - ?

Let's hope it's not a Manly player.

Can coaches receive one? If so Brian Smith should win hands down

Matt Cross gets my vote for Dally M player of the year then he will be gone in 2012.

Ox had a terrible game in melbourne in the final game of his tenoir, he still steered us to fifth, he had heart

I was going to say Soward, but looks like Bennet is about to bugger that up.😉

No

Look at some of the past winners - some very handy players

Also harsh to say Orford was poor in 2009. Rough last game but was not awful through the year

As for hayne he did win winger of the year in 2007 so had some prior form

I lol'd. Pushing the homerism a bit much there Shane, even Ox's mum would admit that he was balls for us in 2009.

He did do some classic screw ups but fifth is hard to argue with, can't have been to bad, unless your crediting his halves partner Bailey for 5th.....i have never been so happy to lose a player....

I don't see any rage towards Ox, he is pretty well respected on these boards. Even the most ardent Ox supporter should be able to see that he was well below the level required in 2009 though - something that wasn't helped by the rest of the team underperforming as well.

As for Bailey, no idea.

Replace the word 'Ox' with 'Dogkinson' and also replace '2009' with '2010' and the statement is still true.

Manly finished the regular season 5th in 2009 and only scraped into 8th in 2010 because the storm were stripped of their points.

Why was Orford below the level required in 2009.

Manly finished 5th, only 1 point from 4th, thanks to Matt Cockchins disgraceful decision at Skilled Park when he penalised Orford in front of the sticks in the 78th minute to hand the Titans a 18-17 win.

Round 24 we beat the Storm (who finished 4th) 20-16 (in Melbourne, Orford kicking 4 from 4))
Round 25 we beat Cronulla 18-16
Round 26 we beat the Titans (who finished 3rd) 38-4

We crusied into the finals and was like it was 2008 all over again. Until we played a shocker vs Storm in week 1 of the finals. The Parra (8th) beat St Choke (1st) and the Bronco's (6th) beat the Titans (3rd)and we were out.

2009 was not a bad year by any stretch of the imagination, an unlucky one maybe but not bad.

I don't understand all this rage towards Ox and Bailey.

Bailey was bought on megabucks so Lyon could move back to the centres however many a fan will attest that Bailey was not of first grade material among other things,i don't hate him personally I just think he had all the skills of a young Mortimer (see tremendous park footballer)

Don't forget the tragedy that happened to Hally and his wife before that Semi.

I believe that played a much greater part than any of us will ever realise.

We were far and away the most potent side in the comp over the last half of the season
