Ice Creams at games

As a teenager going to Brookie was always fun. One fun thing we used to do was call out for ice creams when the junior players carried them around and sold them to the crowd on the hill.
For ****s and giggles we would always call out ice cream to them and then watch them walk through the crowd looking for who said it. It was childish I know but we were children.

My point is now I take my own kids to the games and they are too young to get them on their own. So dad has to line up for 20 minutes missing a big chuck of the game.

Can we please get the ice cream kids going around the ground selling them like they did in the 90’s?

It was always juniors from SG ball that used to do it. Maybe they all had to do it some stage of the season because they were never the same players that sold them.

If Lyall wants to make game day better this would be s cheap and easy fix to a massive problem for parents with kids.

Would be a great idea. Maybe they can do this for other food and drinks too. 🙂 Then we wouldn't waste so much time queuing and missing the game. Or else they should have more than one ice cream van.

My daughter is now just old enough to buy an ice cream on her own. I remember the first time she wanted one. I gave her $5 and told her what to do (and this was the first time she had ever done anything like this by herself). I did't want to stand in line and miss the game. Ha. Luckily she managed to buy one and find her way back to where I was sitting. But my heart was racing the whole time!

When I was speaking to Mr Penn about this, he said it was because too many people called out to the juniors and then hid.

So...it's kinda your fault.

Pwned!

Can remember when my young one heard Mr Whippy & wanted an ice cream...
I told him that's the music they play when they've run out 😀
Sad that they had run out whenever he saw them @:D

Sure the psychological scars will heal

:rofl::rofl:

ah hahahaha

Man oh man that is harsh..... but damn funny.

Bring back to one armed bloke walking around selling his fresh peanuts and Steve the half time boomerang thrower

around the grounds score updates

That'll be a short announcement - "let's go around the grounds for score updates.......................um, actually there are no other games on."

Gone are the days of multiple Sunday afternoon NRL fixtures

So, mainly sponsors flogging stuff. What the hell are URM going to be giving away? Just bring back - all 3 grades, junior sprints before the main game, the guy selling bags of nuts, the boomerang guy and around the grounds score updates, and everyone would be happy. Its not rocket surgery.

I confess I used to call out to the nut guy and when he was almost to me I'd say 'Oh they're roasted I only eat raw ones' ... I was a prick ...🙁
