Are we heading for rebuild. In period of 92 - 98 we had great side 3 minor premiers, one title. 1999 it all came unstuck.
    * in the 90s era we lost ridge to warriors in 97, Ian Roberts to cowboys 96, Craig innes all blacks 1998, Tezza, Craig field and hopa to wests 1999, Daniel Gardner Bradford 1999, Shannon Nevin balmain 1998, mark Carroll souths 1998, Danny Moore 1998 wigan, Owen cunningham cowboys 1998. Only blokes to stick around where toovs, beaver, kosef, cliffy, Jim serdaris and des. However Tezza, Cunningham and hopa later returned to help club out.
    * current era 2005 til now- lost gifty souths 2015, choc parra 2015, josh perry 2010 St. Helens, bk retirement, beaver catalans 2009, ox Bradford 2010, William hopoate 2013 parra, mick Monaghan Warrington 2008, Darcy lussick parra 2013, tony Williams 2013 bulldogs, dean whare Penrith 2012.

Only our depth seems to eaten away, can we recover in few season?

Recover? As recently as late last season we were runaway leaders and comp favourites. The 're-build' has been going on for the last 3 years, and still we are serious challengers. Our club has been the best at transitioning which is why we have played the most consecutive finals. Salary cap makes it tricky but there's no sign we aren't always taking a long-term view as well as challenging every year.

Our squad is awesome and in no way comparable to the NE days. We will kill it this year. Watch Vave have a huge year.

Kite, Gifty, King, and Choc great manly men, but if they were all still in our forward pack come 2016 now that would have definitely been in a retirement / rebuilding phase. The club made some tough calls, but when you can look at our squad and still see stacks of experience, and a great crop of young experienced kids on the up. I will be surprized if 2015 is a rebuilding phase.

Our football department , recruitment and back office management team are way smarter than they were in the late 1990's.

The rebuilding has been happening constantly, the letting go of players like Kite is a perfect example .

The possible letting go of Skivvy, and the impending retirement of Killer and the " maybe" signing of only one of the halves suggest to me that we will see a couple of big name signings for the club in the next year or two, a forward and a back.

Remember we built this great team around Kite / Lyon and then Orford.

        Good times ahead for sure

We have plenty of depth, only area where we're weak depthwise is the halves, but Littlejohn and Rudolph do show promise.

We will be fine. In those periods you mention we didn't have gun juniors coming through like we do now.

Thought I've replied to this but it disappeared?
De$ didn't play for Manly again after 1996 (he got a free ride into the grand final from Bozo).
In 97, he played one season for West then retired after that.
Glad I didn't buy his tribute jersey nor his cruddy book.
