How many players have improved under Trent

Was just saying something on another thread where @strone33 brought up a good point.
How come Turbo can play like a champ in his first origin series but comes back a level playing for us.
You can say he played with better players etc but he had clear instructions that he was playing to.
Bringing me to how many players have improved under Trent?
In reality I can think of one.
Brian Kelly.
I just can't see that he has got the best out of the squad as individuals or as a team.
Comparing it with seibold and Cleary or Nathan Brown I say he's behind the field in getting the best out of them.
So who has improved?

I ask myself that very question every week.DCE was supposed to go to another level under Barrett due to Trent’s apparent expertise in the halves.AFB has improved this season but given he’s a front rower,I would suggest his is just a natural improvement with age.I always wonder what levels some of the players would get to under a more experienced coach and not one that is learning their craft at the same time as the players

It is an overly simplistic question in my opinion.

Coaching is a huge part of players form and overall improvement but isn't the only factor. A players personal life, the squad around him, opportunity and staying injury free and having confidence in there body all play apart.

Look at Dylan Walker, Dally M centre of the year last year, arguably the best season of his career, but this season injuries and a little ill discipline has plagued him. Did Barrett bring out the best of him in 17 or hinder him in 18?

Uate kind of similiar, when we signed him I thought he was done, wouldn't even make the first grade side......well he was great last year, did Barrett resurrect him? And if so is he also to blame for his regression this year?

Lane was rubbish last year, Barrett's fault? Great this year, Barrett's work?

Overall I'd say players who IMO have exceeded MY expectations since they signed

Then there is guys like Hokinson, Myles, Croker, Winterstein, Jono Wright, Uate who I expected to be average and who where average.........but that is a whole other poor recruitment argument

Correct, and I think you are finally getting the hang of it.
Our losses and shortcomings are because Barrett cannot coach and our wins and successes are clearly despite his poor coaching. It is therefore an open and shut case with no room for argument, really.

Reckon that Barrett can take quite a bit of credit in improving some individual players and getting the best out of them . Just again getting the side collectively to play and perform at a good and consistent level still seems to be a frustrating and negative issue .

It's hard to gauge with the ridiculous injury list. Makes it hard to execute any pre-season structures and game plans. That said, I question his credentials on team selection at times and general team tactics. Great coaching also comes down to motivating the players and getting them up for games consistently. We have beaten Melbourne (should have been twice), Brisbane and Penrith and lost to a bunch of Neville's. This tells me he can't keep the overall attitude at a level to be competitive, and that to me sits squarely on the shoulders of the coach.

I think there have definitely been players who have progressed under Barrett. Where we fall down though is in other aspects of his coaching. Things like lack of team structures in attack and defence and the lack of game plans and backup game plans if the first isn't working.

We have a talented squad, but the way we play we don't seem to play much as a team.
