How can I change my username/my username is coming up as my email

Hi,

With the registration system, it asks for the name, username and email, sometimes you inadvertently put your email in the username box. There is also a quirk of the system which has now been fixed, where at times it was putting your email address as your username. When we moved to the new forum system it grabbed this as your username.

Unfortunately because we use two back-end management systems, one for the forum and one for the main site, the process of changing your username was not previously simple, and involved me having to make manual changes to the database....which frankly is a pain in the ass.

I have managed to write an application now that allows you to change your username quickly and easily.

To do so, make sure you are logged into the front-end at http://www.silvertails.net then (on the front page, not the forums)

got to
Account >> Change your Username

(http://www.silvertails.net/others/change-your-username)

Put in the new username you desire, and hit submit.
This will run a quick check to make sure the username is available, and if it is it will change it. If it is already used, it will tell you to try another.

Hope this helps a few out.

Once you have changed the username, it will be instant for everyone else, but you may need to logout and log back in for your cookies to be refreshed.

Sorry I have tried this and many processes without success. I keep getting redirected back to the Login Page even at the times it has established me as Log in.. ? ?

If you go to the home page up the top does it have "Welcome <your name>"

or does it have a login box?
