Glib I know, but the broncos have 2 fabulous wingers, and lose by 30 regularly. On another thread our hapless wingers are being lined up for the sack.

Must be frustrating for them to win the wing battle every week but the forwards can’t convert it into points

Ado-Carr and Alex Johnson are both off contract at the end of this season.
Granted, both would be more expensive than Herbie but they are both Ferrari's compared to a VW Beetle.

At full strength our pack is the equal of any.
Our halfback and fullback are close to the best.
But when you consider our 5/8, centres and wingers we are not nearly as strong as Easts, Storm, Souffs, Doesn'tmatta and probably Canberra and the 'Riff.
When this is pointed out in posts it's not a criticism of the Manly players it's just an analysis.
I've been watching Manly play for around 60 years and our outside backs traditionally are our weapons. We used to score length of the field tries with sweeping ball movement and fleet-of-foot flyers.
This hasn't been the case for several seasons now.
So, if we are to go to the next level and seriously challenge for the premiership we need to add at least one quick, deceptive outside back who can capitalise on the amount of kicking that has become prevalent in our sport.

Agree 100% about the outside backs in the old dsys winning games...some here ild as me are still having nightmares about tgat Eels 80's backline where there forwards had to just(match) opposition for them to win by 50....
But times have changed where the most important dynamics are through the middle and winning momentum on the back of quick play the balls
Yes a bonus to have speedy finishers, but the team who wins tempo in the middle will win 97% of footy matches in the the modern game

In finals footy it is a different story where teams are even and games are as tight as a nuns #@#% and speedy game breakers can snatch the game like a thief in the night . One blink and shut the gate the horse is bolted
