Hass goes to market

I would say that the players, for the safety of their sanity, would avoid sites like this like the plague, otherwise it would do their heads in.
Agreed.

Also I love when people are like, get rid of Chee Kam, Lodge, Matterson, Veaga, Waddell etc like its going to free up all this cap space.

Players on min leaving have to be replaced by players on min.

You cant run a 25 man squad so no money is being freed up.

On their footballing merits sure have that combo but not in relation to making space for Haas

His manager however told News Corp it was industry practice to send a list of clients' contract statuses to clubs monthly.

“As part of standard industry practice, Sportsplayer Management distributes a monthly list to all NRL club recruitment staff outlining the contract status of the players we represent,” Merhi said.

“These lists are commonly circulated by all management teams representing NRL players and are intended to provide accurate, transparent information regarding when players come off contract and when discussions can formally commence under NRL rules.

“Last month's list includes 19 players — one of whom is Payne Haas, who remains contracted to the Brisbane Broncos until the end of the 2026 season.

“Contrary to recent media reports, we have not approached every NRL club to gauge interest in Payne, nor have we had any discussions with any club regarding him.

“Any suggestion to the contrary is incorrect.
This month's list was distributed in the same professional manner as every other month, consistent with the standard processes followed by all player management companies across the NRL."

But but but....James Hooper said Haas was being shopped around....he always tell the truth!!!!!

He impresses the hell out of me, lots of things going on around him at home and at work. Turns up and does his job and bloody well. You would like to think someone at our club in recruitment has their finger on that pulse.

The problem is isn't players on minimum to round out the squad but the type of player we currently have filling those positions is not great when compared to other more successful clubs. Which is where we should be aiming towards achieving. Not to mention Waddell continues being named in the top 17 week to week.

Yeah agreed thats not the point I'm making.

My point is, don't use min wage players when talking of freeing up cap space. Because they dont.

Give me a break.Utoikamanu signed for 850k this season after they appeared in a GF. He's a SOO player. Xavier Coates signed from Broncos a couple of years ago as a QLD SOO player and Kangaroo.
Ok, that's a couple who probably left their club for less than what their next contract would have been if they stayed, but go right through their roster and past rosters going back 20 years, they've bought very few marquis players from other clubs, they wouldn't pay the sort of money that's been talked about for Haas, only a stupid club would.

Righto, so what you are saying is they get to sign players on unders then. Agreed. A fairly easy task when they have the means to buy up a large portion of the best juniors in the game. Much like the Roosters.

Cameron Smith, Greg Inglis, Cooper Cronk, Israel Folau, Billy Slater etc etc etc would have been stars irrespective of where they signed their two contracts. Or one contract if signed by another club. Only the Storm loan out superstar juniors like Harry Grant and possibly Jonah Pezet. They also signed Glen Lazarus, Mick Crocker and a host of other established rep players.

They are a shiit stain club who have been caught cheating. A protected species owned by News Ltd, chaired by a gambling tycoon and given way more opportunities for continued success because NRL headquarters want to pretend that League is making inroads down in Melbourne. They aren't smart, they are permitted to bend the rules in ways most other clubs can only dream about.
