Grand Final traditions

Looking through the Telecrap this week with their nostalga pictures a few things came to mind on things that aren't done in grand finals that I miss.
The first is the players running out in numerical order with the captain first.
I used to really love that anticipating if the would walk out, jog or sprint it.
The other is the chairing of the captain or long standing player. I don't remember the last time I saw a player chaired off the field. I didn't see it when Menzies retired. It would have been fitting.

When I lived in the country, and when Manly wasn't playing my tradition was,

Invite the mates over about 10.00am
Fire up the telly and spear the Keg
About midday fire up the BBQ, just steak and onion, or sausage sangas' nothing fancy, can't spoil the beers
About 1.00pm start the internal betting (max bet was $50)
2.00pm watch Tina Turner or whomever sing
2.55pm settle down for the afternoon in front of the telly
5.00pm celebrate whomever won
6.00pm continue with the keg until dry
8.00pm more sangas (steaks were gone by that time)
10.00pm wife gets the ****s and goes to bed
11.00pm Rum bottle comes out
Midnight wife tells boys to piss off haven't you had enough booze yet

Thankfully it was a public holiday on Monday

I miss tradition, it's all different now, I left most of my mates in NSW, there's no public holiday here on Monday plus I am older and can't handle the pace.

I REALLY miss tradition.

ill be doing GF day sober as part of ocsober

infact i didnt drink GF day 08 is awesome i can remember every moment of that great day
