I really dont care if they pocket extra money ontop of their salary but both clubs should still have to pay thurston and smith their 1 million a season from the cap. Taking 750k away each from the cap is absolutely outrageous! Surely their 1 million must be deducted from thier teams cap. That is the most absurd thing i have read. Giving two pf the strongest teams a potential extra 750k each. The rest of the clubs wont stand for that surely. What is the point of having a cap. No wonder so many people are turning away from the game! Greenburg has to go. Just ruining this great game. Fans from all other teams will be blowing up about this.

The more they try to explain this blatant favoritism, the worse it looks. On the one hand, the testimonial has to have a "charity component" but elsewhere it says that scam and thurston will pocket everything. It's says the NRL will consider any "integrity issues" in a players career before agreeing - well how about Coffs Harbour and numerous drunken escapades? How about blatant salary cap rorting? How about a career built on trying to maim opponents? What about the timing of this in relation to salary cap negotiations?

It's not their go.

Who's to say that they don't even fudge the gate takings and revenue raised from these taxemonials? We could have had 10,000 crowd for Matai and Stewart at Brookie and raised $5million in beenies, badges and other merchandise. That's a good way to resolve any back ended deals.. Either they think that we are all stupid inbreds that live with our heads up our ar:se or they so arrogant and corrupt that they don't give a sh:it what people think.. This has been in the works for some time.. No wonder you can't compete with Melbourne, give one a testimonial and the other retires out of love.. All fortuitous timing for their salary cap.
