Forget the push - How do you catch a ball with 1 hand

To be honest, I don’t know what the rule actually says on this. But that’s ok, I’m just a punter. The problem is, the commentators don’t know the rules in general, so I am none the wiser! What’s the actual rule on tapping the ball to advantage?

I had no problem with that try, the rule isn’t designed to stop plays like that.

I had far more problem with cust’s pass on the second tackle that went out and jakes 4th tackle penalty that lead to this try

it was our fault they had the opportunity to score and I’m jealous they have a half that can deliver an attacking kick that gets results to capitalise on that opportunity

The rule states: If a Manly player does it, it's not a try; anybody else, it's fine.

snake scored a beauty tapping the ball over a defender many years ago from a kick.

However I'm sure they changed the rule saying you can't deliberately tap the ball forward over another player. That's what happened today isnt it?

They ruled that it wasn't 'deliberate'... though I am sure I have seen similar tries knocked back.

It’s a tough one to rule is something deliberate.
There are plenty of times you can gain an advantage by being deemed not deliberate and that was one of them, only the player really knows.
Conversely something like Croker dropping the ball onto his knee then then trying kick it with his foot is ruled a knock on.
Yes he dropped it but it didn’t touch another player or the ground so why should it be a knock on?

Agree on the last point with Croker, i know it came out of his hands but he had control of it and hit it with his knee on purpose to stop the knock on...

I'm ok with it because if that was our try, I'd want it awarded.

He didn't tap it over DCE's head.
