The try where the bunker said he tried to catch the ball. When you look at it he goes up with 1 hand. How do you catch the ball in 1 hand ?
The rule states: If a Manly player does it, it's not a try; anybody else, it's fine.To be honest, I don’t know what the rule actually says on this. But that’s ok, I’m just a punter. The problem is, the commentators don’t know the rules in general, so I am none the wiser! What’s the actual rule on tapping the ball to advantage?
snake scored a beauty tapping the ball over a defender many years ago from a kick.
However I'm sure they changed the rule saying you can't deliberately tap the ball forward over another player. That's what happened today isnt it?
They ruled that it wasn't 'deliberate'... though I am sure I have seen similar tries knocked back.
It’s a tough one to rule is something deliberate.
There are plenty of times you can gain an advantage by being deemed not deliberate and that was one of them, only the player really knows.
Conversely something like Croker dropping the ball onto his knee then then trying kick it with his foot is ruled a knock on.
Yes he dropped it but it didn’t touch another player or the ground so why should it be a knock on?
