Another SMH article today.

His interview on NRL 360 last night was excellent too, well worth watching.

Manly five-eighth Keiran Foran has attributed his own mental health for a successful 2021 season and said working on his state of mind in the off-season put him on track for a strong season.

In recent weeks, Foran has opened up about his mental health struggles as well as issues with gambling and alcohol in the lead up to the finals.

Foran said returning to Manly with Des Hasler brought his career pull circle to put him on the path for another shot at the premiership.

“I’m just glad and happy I’ve been able to stick at it and continue to push through those really tough years both on and off the field,” Foran said.

“I’m just feeling grateful that I was given the opportunity to come back to Manly. The amount of work I put into the pre-season both mentally and physically it’s both played its role into where I am right now.“

Foran has not played in the finals since 2014.

“To see the amount of effort and work that the organisation has put in to get to this point, it’s been a great reward. At the end of the day, we are four weeks off potentially being there on the big day.”

I wonder if Choc is still kicking stones?

With Des, Foz and Snake coming back to the fold (assuming Glenn is ok, as his brother is on the payroll and he never badmouthed the club anyway), Choc may be the only one still holding a grudge… I hope he isn’t.

On 360 he said he was surprised how his body had held up after his history of injuries but credited the staff for creating a targeted gym workout for him and how he never missed a pre-season training session.

He also said how much he loves playing under Des.

Glenn goes to Brookie with Snake to watch the games sometimes and is in the sheds after the game with the boys so definitely not kicking stones.

Foran should have been a one club player. He was an absolute inspiration to Manly in his early years and just fit into the culture perfectly. It was tragic that the Glenn Stewart situation spelt the end of his first tenure at the club. I remember the day I heard Glenn was not going to be offered a contract and I feared the worst and everything I feared came to realisation. I'll always look back on that decision by the club as a huge stain on our history. What those players did to bring us success meant Gifty deserved better and it still pains me to this day.

In saying that, it's about making good on past grievances so having Foz back and the Snake on the coaching staff, is healing. I love watching Foran play and if his body holds up, I hope he gets another deal for 2023. I don't wanna see a Benji situation where we have this great homecoming only for him to be shown the door again.

Blame David Gallop for that crap. We should have been able to offer him a contract at least.

If that same logic were applied today (NRL refusing to register contracts below a players' market value) the Roosters squad would be absolutely decimated.

Couldn't of scripted this any better for Foz, played with 3 other clubs, but was always destined to come back home to Manly courtesy of Des. Now, to cap it off with a lap of honour at Suncorp on GF day.

Not as grateful as I am.😊

This man needs to be in the media, his interviews are outstanding, informative, knowlegable and flowing.

The bloke was a busted mess at the dogs. Having Foz back at Manly and firing this year has made my life a little bit easier. Just love the guy!
