Unbelievable that someone didn't have a word to him at half time about the astonishing bias of his commentary. Worst I've ever heard - even a whole lot of 'we need to do this' etc.
Having said that though, how bad would it have been growing up with him as your father? From the age of six the poor kid would have had ... now you need to do this ... when you did that you should have .... remember the bit where you, well you should have ....
No wonder the kid is having the troubles he's having .... apart from the Jackson Hastings treatment that is.

He's a good commentator, probably one of the best, with actual insight into what's happening on the field. As Scorpio said, he should not have been chosen for this game -- just not impartial.

I'm OK with Flanno; I generally like Matt Russell too (I much prefer him to Voss and Ginnane).

I reckon it would have been a pretty tough game to commentate generally as one team was so ordinary and getting pumped.

Besides, the Dogs are Flanno's best shot of getting a new gig, so he may as well talk about how he would coach them - he might not even have to interview!

I too don’t mind flanno as he provides a great insight. I’m not sure if anyone saw the Warriors game yesterday but Blocker was constantly rapping Bailey Sironnen and seriously he wasn’t doing much out of the ordinary. May have something to do with the fact that he is best mates with sirro senior.

I certainly don't mind listening to commentators with actual insight (though I do seem to automatically tune most commentators out) but I would've enjoyed his comments more if they all didn't come from the one point of view - that being a bulldogs person.

Even at the end I laughed when he said "Manly deserve credit...and I'm sure someone will give it to them" - yeah cause flanno certainly wasn't going to.

I don't know if the posters on here saying that they "don't mind him"- meant overall, and have heard him in other games, or just this one. I don't know if he's commentated before, sorry.

If it was just this 80 min anti-manly diatribe, then he was just one level above some of the trolls who only post in the game day thread when manly are losing.

His commentary for the bulldogs last night was fine, his efforts as a commentator for the 'game' was appalling.

Flannagan as a commentator is usually not too bad. But yesterday it really was like Homer coaching the junior football team. Bart could do no wrong and was their best player by a country mile, while the rest were no hopers. Although in reality, Bart was just as bad as his team mates.

But if he is angling to try and become the Dogs coach ... they could do worse. They currently are.

First time I’ve heard Flanno in commenting on a game I thought he wasn’t too bad, was making a few excuses for the dogs but let’s give him a bit of break that was a woeful dogs team , at times he did give Manly a wrap , he didn’t bag Manly he just didn’t give enough credit at times

Flanno tends to support from a coaching advice perspective teams that are getting smashed... he did the same for us when we’re getting canned by other teams at the beginning of the year...Obviously he is a hungry coach in waiting.
