I have a distinct feeling that come finals time there will be a far bit more lattitude in the ruck, particularly for teams like Storm who will smother 4 players into tackles and control the tempo of the game.
Manly's trump card recently has been winning this EXACT area comrehensively, leading to a glut of points across the field.
People may see Saab into space, Tom injecting himself all over the place and fluent shifts to both edges, but make no mistake....it's 100% from the middle men bashing down the middle gates and swallowing those outside defenders in, to allow Manly's speed men time and space to capitilize....which we are doing so well.
Personally I don't mind a little more old school bash and barge in the tackles we will find come finals time, but will pi** me off if the officialling completely changes to suit Melbourne....I mean you play over 20 games before finals and build a formula and structures to fit the new rules, so I am hoping this does not do the total 360 come finals, as it will hurt a few teams and benefit others...unfortunately we are 1 team it will hurt more than most.
