Explanation of statistics needed

How does this 'metres gained in attack' work? I see they credit Soward with 135m last night, yet he had two intercepts and must have run for 150-metres in those two alone.
Not that I care about Sowart, but is this just another useless statistic?

Pretty sure intercepts and metres gained fron a fumbled ball aren't included. Only hitup type runs.

I think they do count. Can you recall him running the ball at any other time? The try was about 90m but the other one would have been around 40m. Sounds about right to me.
