Dylan Walker....confidence player

One of the key challenges I believe the current coach and captain have is how to get the best out if Dylan Walker. I believe he is the untapped xfactor of this team which if properly harnessed could yield enormous dividends. (Tommy is the xfactor, but he is producing fairly consistently).

To me Walker is rocks and diamonds. His defence in Rd 2 was rightly panned by many on here, and his play left many of us shaking our heads. Last night is one of the best games I have seen him play. Defensively he smashed and stuck. In offence he made quick metres and was always a chance to make a break or a half break as he ran at holes. And he is quick, very quick. Let's not forget his 7 goals also.

So how do they get the best from him? I don't know Walker at all, but he seems like he gets mentally stuck in ruts. Last night he seemed p$$$ed. he kicked one goal and turned and gestured to the crowd.....I loved that. I think baz and DCE really need to challenge him, get him aiming for that NSW jumper and also pointing out things like the article in today's paper about the mystery sea eagle turnstile in defence. That's fairly basic psychology but I think Walker needs an enemy.

He is a talent but very inconsistent. I'm glad he didn't do his usual cross field expedition last night. It would probably help his game to have a settled home life, is anyone interested in him as a potential life partner?
There was some fluff piece last year during SOO about his partner.

Walks just wants to score tries, like the NYC players do. Last night he helped in all facets of the game.

Hopefully the singing the Team Song builds a happy association in his mind - effort = happy result

I hammered him on theis site last week (and rightfully so I felt haha) but yes last night was fantastic from him...

I guess for that reason I was dissapointed I. The first place as we know what he is capable of!

Just needs to be consistent now 🙂

I loved that moment too because the crowd must've really been giving it to him!

Since returning to centre, I thought Walks had been playing well, and kicking well, and from his interviews it seemed he's very happy to be back at centre. That was until last week, when he had a shocker and I think the reason for it was due to him playing against his former club, which affected him.

Last night he returned to his best and we hope he continues like that. Also have to say 7 from 7 goals was outstanding

Dylan must have read my post from last week. If he can back it up with a couple of performances in a row, then I'm happy to eat humble pie and apologise. But a great step forward from last week.

Once his game is simplified he is one of the best centres in the game. It may be up to baz to simplify it, although I think having him back at centre is all he needs. Against the bunnies he was poor but was probably overthinking due to the pressure of playing against his former club. He is a confidence player and as long as manly play well he'll continue to be on fire. Walker's best football is yet to come

One week in rugby league is a year in normal life.

Again its week three of 26 rounds and last nights win means nothing without another victory.

Dylan is a gun centre and whilst only 22 his best years are ahead of him.

Can't wait to see who we bring in next year with massive cap space... Manly don't get the press re us having 1 mil on the sidelines with the rest of the injuries in forwards.

God help the forums next week if we lose the wooden spoon thread will appear again

I thought the same as you about his terrible round 2 performance. I think it was the Souths thing. At one point when he made a mistake Souths players went over to console him.

I canned him for his defence against Souths, he certainly responded after a poor showing last week. Happy to eat my words.

He was big time off his game last week but weeks 1 and 3 he was one of our best.

As someone mentioned he is still only 22 even though he has been around a while. He will continue to mature and could be a long stay at club and rep level in the centre position, no more 5/8 though.
