One of the key challenges I believe the current coach and captain have is how to get the best out if Dylan Walker. I believe he is the untapped xfactor of this team which if properly harnessed could yield enormous dividends. (Tommy is the xfactor, but he is producing fairly consistently).
To me Walker is rocks and diamonds. His defence in Rd 2 was rightly panned by many on here, and his play left many of us shaking our heads. Last night is one of the best games I have seen him play. Defensively he smashed and stuck. In offence he made quick metres and was always a chance to make a break or a half break as he ran at holes. And he is quick, very quick. Let's not forget his 7 goals also.
So how do they get the best from him? I don't know Walker at all, but he seems like he gets mentally stuck in ruts. Last night he seemed p$$$ed. he kicked one goal and turned and gestured to the crowd.....I loved that. I think baz and DCE really need to challenge him, get him aiming for that NSW jumper and also pointing out things like the article in today's paper about the mystery sea eagle turnstile in defence. That's fairly basic psychology but I think Walker needs an enemy.
