Not that we'd be interested but Ryals must not want Benji to get another spoon.

Lost Blaze Talagi, sacked Sivo, Gutho and RCG and Dylan Brown.

I'd suggest they were the best 5 players.

I am begging some of you to look further than a thread title before you take the massive leap

The rebuild of new Parramatta coach Jason Ryles has been dealt a significant blow with star playmaker Dylan Brown seeking expressions of interest from rival clubs for the 2026 season.

Brown’s management company on Wednesday emailed prospective clubs seeking expressions of interest in the star five-eighth for the 2026 season despite having an option in his favour to remain at Parramatta until 2031.

Brown, who is on a contract worth close to $1 million a season, has a player option in his Eels contract that he has to take up before round 10 this season that will guarantee his stay at Parramatta.

Even if Brown triggers the player option to stay at the Eels before round 10, it doesn’t completely guarantee his stay at Parramatta until 2031.

He has another option in a few years’ time to get out of the contract if he wants to leave.

The Eels have been speaking with his manager Chris Orr for several months in an attempt to remove the options from his contract, however they haven’t been able to reach a resolution with his manager looking to test the market.

The email also included a link to highlights and is believed to have also been sent to rugby union clubs.

“Please revert back to Gavin and I on email to register your clubs interest in securing the services of Dylan Brown for season 2026 and beyond,” said the email sent by Orr and obtained by this masthead.

“Once we finalise the level of interest, we will work with you to set up an appropriate time to catch up with Dylan. These type of “Franchise Players” dont [sic] come on the market very often.”

The Eels have also been in discussions with Mitchell Moses’ agent Isaac Moses to try and facilitate a significant upgrade and extension to remove the player option from the halfback’s contract as well.

The Eels are willing to make Moses an Eel for life by extending his deal beyond its current expiration in 2028 by an additional season and upgrading the value of that contract.

In turn the Eels want Moses to remove the player option in his contract that could see him walk out on the club in 2027 at his discretion.

I mean if this is not a wedge to try get more $$$ I am not here

Of course it is but why not do this and at the same time go to club on the up rather than the rebuilding wilderness the Eels will be in hopefully for at least a decade also.

He is managed by Moses. Do you think that is his concern?

Yes of course but ultimately most of the so called mangers are as bad as each other, they make used car sales people look like exemplars of integrity. Mangers have become a cancer imo however this is not going to change anytime soon. I will be betting that brown gets a pay rise and chance to play at a club that will likely feature in the finals on regular basis in the years to come and that’s not Parra

Yep, just chasing the money and good luck to him if he gets over $1mill a season.

I think Gutho's, "your not needed here' scenario would have shaken a few boys up in terms of their loyalty to the club.

And I do not begrudge him trying to make more $
Pretty natural move I'd say.
The player option in Brown's contract is only valuable to Brown right now because the Eels still want him.
If he'd turned into a bum player last year then the Eels would probably be doing everything they can to make him unhappy at the club so he decides to leave!
But instead they want him to effectively 'recommit' long term, so fair enough that they pay some compensation for him giving up his rights. Presumably they haven't rushed in to offer him extra, or enough extra, so he'll test the market.
Eels fault for signing that sort of contract in the first place. @:D

Really like Brown as a player and I'd love him at Manly as a DCE replacement if he fit....which he does not as Brooks is no halfback option
